Here's the auto response I received back from the school district. Looks like some serious CYA is going on. The system realizes they screwed up now that the sun is shining on their abuse.

If your email is regarding concerns related to Lincoln Elementary, please refer to the following response: Over the past few days, there has been considerable general and social media attention regarding the Lincoln Elementary School Attendance/Tardy Catch-up Protocol. Thursday afternoon, Principal Fitzsimmons was able to meet with both parents to discuss their concerns. The meeting was productive. The parents’ concerns were politely discussed and, ultimately, the issues were resolved to the satisfaction of both the parents and the school. All parties involved believe that an appropriate resolution has been reached and are anxious to move forward with their normal daily routines.

As a result of the concerns raised, the District ended the learning catch up location at Lincoln Elementary School. Going forward, a separate, supervised classroom has been designated for necessary catch-up work. The District and Lincoln Elementary will continue to work with families on an individual basis to encourage and promote student attendance. Thank you for your concerns.

Remember when teachers used to punish the entire class for the actions of one student? That wasn’t right, either.

According to most of Free Republic protocol no child with a parent who is not absolutely perfect in every way is allowed any slack. That 7 year old should force his mother to drive him to school on time or else! No wonder the world is as it is.

I am compassionate for my wife and other teachers like her who put in 60 hr weeks trying to educated children while dealing with parents like you who think discipline and behaviour problems should be solved by the schools instead of the responsible parent.

Look at yourself. Your fist reaction is to blame the school and excuse the offending party. That is not compassion, that is stupidity!
