IRVINE, Calif. (KABC) -- UC Irvine's student executive council vetoed Saturday a resolution passed by the school's student legislative body earlier this week that banned hanging a flag from any nation in the lobby area of student government offices.
"We fundamentally disagree with the actions taken by ASUCI Legislative Council and their passage of R50-70 as counter to the ideals that allow us to operate as an autonomous student government organization with the freedoms of speech and expression associated with it. It is these very symbols that represent our constitutional rights that have allowed for our representative creation and our ability to openly debate all ranges of issues and pay tribute to how those liberties were attained," the student executive cabinet released in a statement.
The initial ban, approved by a 6-4 vote Thursday, prompted the removal of the American flag from the lobby.

Happy to see that saner people prevailed on this issue over the ASUCI Legislative Council.
Were any of the parents who are paying tuition for these cry babies paying attention to what the school is teaching them? Probably not. This is California. It's full of nuts and seeds already.
They banned the banners who banned the banner.
And the UC Irvine flag ban has been vetoed, and no longer will have any effect.

UCI has a reputation for being a school of nerds.
The majority don’t care about anything except studying, including sports, politics, partying, etc.
About 40% are Asians who will go back to their countries when they graduate.
Just a few idiots have given UCI a bad rap.
Yeah, this poser turd is going to go against America haters?
But the alumni who donate to the school have had their voices heard.
Not a dime as long as this crap persists.
