Last night, author Trevor Loudon joined Glenn for an in-depth discussion on the growth of the progressive movement. In the interview, Loudon said that he believed Ted Cruz could be the leader America needs to lead it away from progressivism and back towards freedom. To secure his nomination, and eventually the presidency, Loudon suggested an unusual strategy: Cruz should name his cabinet and run as a team.

Ted Cruz has a record of running behind Mediocre Mitt in Texas.
That's one of my concerns.

I also don't expect him to "change the GOP" - but I would expect him to govern as a conservative, which is enough to get him my vote.

It makes it look like Ted Cruz can’t get the nomination on his own. Cruz doesn’t need gimmicks. He doesn’t need a backup band. He is more than capable of winning the nomination all on his own, but he needs to get serious and start running now. He has a message. He has a vision. He is more than capable of clearly stating that vision. He can out-campaign, out-debate, out-message any other candidate out there. He needs to start doing it.
Good luck with that. You won't change your mind until you've been bent over and screwed...again...and perhaps not even then, considering all the screwing the GOP has thus far given to GOP voters. I won't be a part of it.

Today only two of our choices are Cruz and Walker, with several more still left to consider. Compared to our choices in 2012, I think that today we’re exceptionally well off.
I’d like to see Cruz rev people up to the point that they want him even if they’re worried that he won’t win the general election, because that would likely mean that he’s expanding the base and doing so on principle.
And if he doesn’t quite accomplish that, we have a proven quantity like Walker to fall back on, plus possibly a few more besides. All in all, a much more favorable situation than we faced four years ago.
I like Ted Cruz, but senators are very bad choices for the office of president.
I don’t know. As hard it is to make some people happy with just one candidate I can see people staying home just because they don’t like what one cabinet member said or did.

Brilliant! I like the idea of Rand as Sec of Treasury, Bolton at Secretary of state...Cruz IS the most Reagan-like, principled conservative who can win. Now that Clinton is likely destroyed her chances, Warren will likely be the left’s nominee...we need a inspirational fighter who has been fighting the left and the establishment like no other. Nobody touches Ted Cruz on that.

I like Steve Forbes but Rand Paul is good too for fiscal responsibility. How about Ben Carson for surgeon General? As long as he doesn’t openly say he wants to abolish taxpayer funded gender changing surgeries he may pass with the crowd. (Of course, if he did say that it would get my vote, why should we have to pay for it?)

It never was a Federal responsibility to delegate anyway. States need to take it back.
Seems like just an adaptation from parliamentary systems.
One or a series of primaries with the top vote-getters meeting formally and agreeing among themselves who gets Pres, VP, Cabinet and other positions. A little bit similar to when convention backrooms decided candidates.
I might support such a method.
I don’t at all. Run as a team? Won’t that look like he needs assistance to cover up lack of experience. No if he is going to be President, he should do the hard work that it takes to win.
