ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) Seniors at an Albuquerque high school whose plans for an unusual prom theme sparked interest and criticism from around the country have landed on a new prom theme: Prom.
Its their way of taking back ownership of their prom theme, after the suggestion of a communism connotation created a backlash they werent anticipating.
After KRQE News 13 reported that students at Cottonwood Classical Preparatory School voted on Prom-munism as the theme for their spring formal dance, news traveled fast.
Some headlines pointed out the irony of the theme: Students democratically pick communism-themed prom.
Others were outraged. According to head administrator Sam Obenshain, some of the emails the school received were threatening.
He says students never intended to make light of the atrocities committed under communist regimes.

“He says students never intended to make light of the atrocities committed under communist regimes.”
Why? The atrocities are why countries go Communists.
“That it lead to various positive things.... “
Ok, challenge here. Name one positive thing that can be attributed to Communism?
I couldn’t think of one.
New theme is 50 Shades of Porn
Good grief. I went to public schools in Albuquerque and this crap would have never seen the light of day in the 60’s. Half the people on our street were spooks, nuc scientists or math/electronics whizzes. It’s also where i got to see my first laser.
Communism = open mindedness
Wow! I learn something new every day. Not. On the video, Blondie has no idea what the heck she’s talking about and the two dweebs on either side of her agreeing with the gobbly goop she said have no clue what she said, either. To think they’ll be voting next year.
The attendees are all picked up in barely running Zil limousines and never seen again.
They should have picked “Socialism.” Their teachers and the media would have said, “Cool!” Then, students could dress up as International Socialists and National Socialists.
They’re clueless. Consider, though - if their teacher is 26 years of age, he/she was born in the year that world Communism dropped onto the ash heap of history. They can’t forget what they never learned. Perhaps the public outrage will serve as the clue they never got.
What the heck was this all about?
Everyone gets a Prada gown or all have to go to Kohls???
All three of the kids interviewed mentioned that their school was either a part of, or the curriculum was related to, the International Baccalaureate, whatever that is. They also each mentioned that they believed in “open mindedness.”
Which leads me to want to know what the International Baccalaureate is up to. As for the open mindedness, empty-mindedness seems more likely.
They appeared to have no clue about the history of communism.
I think you’re right.
Thanks, I hadn’t looked at it that way.
I think they prefer Pravda gowns.
More apropos.
.
Looks like the commies at the convention in NYC have a hell of a band going on.
That guy looks a lot like Jesse Jackson.
It killed a lot of communists.
That’s about all I can come up with.
They could eat fish head soup and have the prom in winter outside. Then when body parts freeze they could amputate them with pliers just like in Siberia.
The original Obama:
“James W. “Jim” Ford (December 22, 1893 1957) was an activist and politician, the Vice-Presidential candidate for the Communist Party USA in 1932, 1936, and 1940. A party organizer born in Alabama and living in New York City, Ford was the first African American to run on a presidential ticket in the 20th century.”

None of the plumbing should work and half of the food and decorations should be missing. Just like the Olympics. Then the day after prom the school should take over a neighbor junior high and abuse the girls.
