San Francisco To Redirect Stream Of Public Urinators With Hydrophobic Walls Department of Public Works looks to Europe for idea to paint city walls with water-repellent paint in effort to combat public urination problem Pee back paint Hamburg Some walls in Hamburg, Germany pee back.

Jana Kasperkevic 13 March 2015 The city of San Francisco, tired of cleaning up after those who relieve themselves in the public, wants to test walls that pee back.

The San Francisco department of public works (DPW) is hoping to paint some of the city’s walls with hydrophobic (water-repellent) paint. If urinated upon, the paint makes the urine bounce off the wall – and back at the urinator’s feet.

In Europe, such paint has been proven to work. In Hamburg, walls in the St Pauli quarter of the city have been painted with a super-hydrophobic coating and given accompanying signs, which read: “Do not pee here. We pee back!” It was the Hamburg experiment, as captured in a YouTube video, that captured the attention of San Francisco officials.

Love hydrophobic paint.

They are even using hydrophobic dyes to make toilet plungers.

Can you imagine pulling a plunger out and not having all that crap on it?

just rinse in bathtub, douse in alcohol and store it. No muss, no fuss...

So instead of urinating on the wall they will urinate straight down onto the road or sidewalk.

Rinse the plunger in the bathtub? My parents would have had me declared ‘a ward of the state’ that next day.

Perhaps they would have better success if they had some hydrophobic dogs instead.

Paint all the hydrants with that, too.

Fit the walls with ungrounded electrical grids. Urine conducts electricity. Zot!

It might be cheaper to install urinals that pay the depositor. They have reverse vending machines for bottle recycling...

So instead of urinating on the wall they will urinate straight down onto the road or sidewalk.

Or just stand back a little further.

An electrified wall would be a better approach in my opinion.

How about electrified walls. That might deter these degenerates from such a disgusting habit.

The only thing better than this would be paint that caused the urinator’s pee to splash back all over his clothes.

DANG!
