Martese Johnson is lying face-down on the pavement, blood flowing from his forehead. He was injured when Virginia alcohol control agents took him to the ground, trying to arrest him for public intoxication and obstruction of justice.
As he's pinned, video captures him yelling: "I go to UVA! ... You f****** racists! What the f***? How did this happen?"
An agent can be heard telling the student to stop fighting.

CNN DID let that little factoid slip out. Of course, with the intent to show how righteous he is.
I think a much more concise statement could have been provided. Such as:
Dear Parents:
One of our students got drunk, he actions led to citizens calling for police assistance. The student resisted arrest, and in the process was injured. As we learn more, we will share it.
In the meantime, I urge you to call your little Johnny or Suzy today and tell them the following: If you get drunk and act like an a-hole (first mistake), resist arrest (second mistake), your kid may get injured (consequence). Consider it a valuable learning experience.

Overzealous enforcement of underage drinking laws may have played a role in this incident. If you're old enough to vote, serve in the military, and be tried as an adult in criminal court, you're old enough to drink. 21-to-drink laws really need to go.

Yep; from the same regional office that, two years ago, conducted a nighttime armed assault against a group of female students in a shopping center parking lot who were carrying a case of bottled water to their car. That incident cost the VABC a +$200,000 settlement.

He may have tried to use a fake ID, which I assume is an honor code violation that is routinely committed by many of the students at UVA.

One mistakes these ABC enforcement agents made was to bust him up on The Corner in front of several dozen witnesses.
This "respect my authority" stuff is not working. I think it's because men are not in so many homes now. Boys don't know how to be men and men don't know how to be anything but physical. Not true of all men of course and certainly not true of most men over 50. It's not going to be pretty.
