YES, Poland is part of NATO, and should be defended. But, Hussein Obama has made it clear he will RENEGE on his Treaty obligations. Coincidence?

LOL ! Those Putin's whores, incredible :)))

27% were actually people saying they fight with firearms in their hands and the poll was conducted the way election polls are done, so ~50% were women, significant part were elderlies, some were disabled and so on.

Yes.

Putin has no Facebook or any other pages. He has plenty of alternate ways to express his opinion. Never heard him naming Poles Nazis and Russians do not think about Poles as Nazis. Galitians are Nazis but it is different story.

The Poles don’t completely trust NATO — they’ve been betrayed before by the English and French (see the phony war and then the FDR sellout of Poland to Stalin at Yalta), so they are practising

Polish distrust of Russia runs deep. I try to argue with my friends and in-laws here that Russia is better off attacking Turkey, but they still believe that Russia wants to recapture Warsaw. But this time, the Poles want to give the Rosjanie a run for their money

Poles don't quite believe that the West will come to their aid. They want to fight their own battles and IF the West comes, then good.

This is a result of the sellout by FD Roosevelet at Yalta

There is a funny "Yes, Prime Minister" episode where the British PM is asked by his senior advisor when he would be ready to use nuclear weapons

The Chief Scientific Adviser asserts that if the Russians would to try anything, it would be salami tactics (slice by slice). Jim soon realises that he would only push the nuclear button if he were given no choice. But because of the Russians using salami tactics, he will probably never push the nuclear button.

113 00:07:59,135 --> 00:08:02,650 No, if they try anything, it will be salami tactics.

114 00:08:02,855 --> 00:08:05,323 - Salami tactics? - Slice by slice.

115 00:08:06,175 --> 00:08:08,564 One small piece at a time.

116 00:08:08,735 --> 00:08:12,091 So will you press the button if they invade West Berlin?

117 00:08:12,855 --> 00:08:15,653 - It all depends. - On what?

118 00:08:15,855 --> 00:08:17,846 Scenario one.

119 00:08:18,455 --> 00:08:20,923 Riots in West Berlin,

120 00:08:21,095 --> 00:08:23,290 buildings in flames.

121 00:08:23,455 --> 00:08:28,688 East German fire brigade crosses the border to help. Would you press the button...?

122 00:08:29,375 --> 00:08:33,288 The East German police come with them. The button...?

123 00:08:33,495 --> 00:08:37,488 Then some troops, more troops just for riot control, they say.

124 00:08:37,975 --> 00:08:42,730 And then the East German troops are replaced by Russian troops. Button...?

125 00:08:43,535 --> 00:08:46,003 Then the Russian troops don't go.

126 00:08:46,175 --> 00:08:49,963 They are invited to stay to support civilian administration.

127 00:08:50,135 --> 00:08:54,128 The civilian administration closes roads and Tempelhof Airport.

128 00:08:54,775 --> 00:08:58,245 - Now you press the button? - I need time to think about it.

129 00:08:58,415 --> 00:09:00,804 - You have 12 hours. - Have I?

130 00:09:00,975 --> 00:09:04,172 - You're inventing this. - You are Prime Minister today.

Actually if you read the book "the Russian origins of World War One", you'll see that Russia expected and wanted it. They were able to move their troops into Prussia within days of declaration of war which showed that they had moved troops in anticipation.

The Russians wanted a quick win to get Constantinople

History repeats itself: "Pourquoi mourir pour Danzig?" - Marcel Deat, 4th of May 1939.
"How horrible, fantastic, incredible it is that we should be digging trenches and trying on gas-masks here because of a quarrel in a far away country between people of whom we know nothing." - Neville Chamberlain, 27th of September 1938.

Western Europe doesn’t care. It’s not under threat. In fact the French (both Francois Hollande and even Christine Le Pen) are pro-Putin as are the Italians and others

well, 27% of the adult population. Out of the 38 million I’d say 28 million are 18+ and then “fighting age” men and women would be only about 16 million. So 63% are willing is about 10 million. Not bad.

I can answer this. I live in Poland (wife and kid are Polish). We talk about el Putin often. A neighbor of ours (the wife) and my wife (we both have kids who are toddlers) -- the mothers felt that they would want to run with their children.

But men are willing to fight and in fact want to fight. There have been a lot of movies lately about the warsaw uprising (Miasto 44) and Poles are studying why they lost in 1939 and 1944

In 39 there was an option to fight WITH the Nazis against the Soviets (kind of like dancing with the tiger) - but the Poles had very few cards -- only this one (dance with the devil and hope not to get eaten) or give up 90% of the country and retreat to the Bieszady moountains in the south (Poland is flat -- easy to invade)

In 44 they didn't get the women and children and old people out of Warsaw and they didn't believe the Nazis and Ukrainians (yes, the RUP) would be that evil.

If Russia uses conventional means now, I believe that Poland could handle them. Estonia and Latvia haven't got a chance

But to "Americans fight and die" -- the 27% I would see as women with children or cowards. 73% are ready to fight. But having 50 American troops makes a moral difference and will make the Russian Eagle pause...

Remember also that the Poles were the only ones who managed to conquer Moscow -- granted that that was in 1610, but they kept the pressure up until the 1700s

Why did they fail after that? Internal politics...

The Polish grand lords decided they preferred weaker kings and they promoted a parliament where even a single NAY vote would kill a bill. Net result, nothing happened.

This opened Poland up to meddling by its neighbors (autocratic governments)
