Ted Cruz, the presidential candidate who wants to increase the H-1B cap by 500%
Computerworld ^ | March 23, 2015 | Patrick Thibodeau

It's going to be hard for the Republicans to field a presidential candidate as enthusiastic about the H-1B visa as U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas). Cruz, who announced his presidential bid this morning, once proposed an immediate increase in the base H-1B cap from 65,000 to 325,000. Cruz offered the H-1B increase as an amendment in 2013 to the Senate's comprehensive immigration bill.

Why are you delibrately misleading people with your posts?

Both posts 63 and 72 cover what this was really about-Yet you persist in trying to twist a two year old dead amendment into an attack on Cruz.

Cruz’s official press release on his amendment.
US STEM workers are not going to like it.”

How that is “twisting “ anything is beyond me. It’s what he said about the amendment.
Cruz is my preferred candidate, I’m not a child that has to think he’s perfect...

It is a good point that he’s setting a maximum number and not a recommended or required number of visas.
He’s basically saying there should be as many as needed- which is reasonable to me and fits in with the view of the AEI.
STEM workers think- correctly- that the determination of how many are “needed” is done unfairly.
Their beef is really not with Cruz’s maximum number, but the maximum number is all that protects them so I understand their dismay.

Hillary cheers you on, I’m sure. So does Jebbie.

Now THAT's an interesting comment.

Didn't see you posting that as you went after Walker.

Walker is their Plan B, so the statement wouldn’t fit.

Oh, so now you want to insult me for calling you on it by you pretending to be stupid?

Well, OK, you can be stupid and get away with it this time.

Name four strong Presidents from the last 170 years who were governors first...

Governor-to-President in the 20th Century:
Wilson, Coolidge, FDR, Reagan, Carter, Clinton, Bush.

In the 19th Century...
Tyler, Van Buren, Polk, Johnson (impeached), Hayes, Cleveland, McKinley, Teddy Roosevelt.

What is that, 3 solid names since 1837?

Methinks it isn't as crucial as it sounds.

He’s basically saying there should be as many as needed-

No he isn't. He isn't saying anything. That amendment has been dead for over 2 years. It is no longer any consideration AT ALL in the Senate.

Cruz proposed a pair of killer amendments to the gang of 8 comprehensive immigration bill. Harry Reid hated Cruz's amendments so much that he killed them right away.

Why do you think he killed them? Take your best guess.

In rereading the post I realize that my clumsy fingers are not as fast as the thinking process. Being at work makes it difficult to properly edit.

The sentence should have read that I ‘did not vote for Obama so I am not . . .’

Easy solution - charge $25,000 for these visas. See how it shakes it then.

They have to pay these H1-B people enough to make it worth their while to give up friends and country to come to this country and perform the same tasks that you can do. Are you unable to compete with them on a wage basis?

So we should import Third World living standards into this country - and make American workers train the coolies who are undercutting them. No sale.

From the article:

"Cruz is part of large group of politicians who will not acknowledge the H-1B's visas use in offshore outsourcing or the reality of U.S. workers who are forced to train their visa-holding replacements. In defending this H-1B increase, Cruz cited a study by the American Enterprise Institute, which argued that visa workers create jobs. This organization primarily represents the views of large companies and asset management firms."

As time goes by, and Internet bandwidth becomes ever-cheaper, and video-conferencing more common, there will be less need for foreign workers to be physically here in the US.

The people wanting H1B workers will just open a branch in India.

I agree with you. A lot on the right have one issue that ruins it for the best candidate.

If Cruz cuts off the flow of illegals threw border security (since this admin won't), and we get the best and brightest to come in the legal way, then that'll work. They are productive and will help our country, whereas many illegals suck off the teet. The democrats and their abortions have wiped out a bunch of natural born citizens that could've made a difference in population growth.

OMG! THE PEOPLE HERE WHO TAKE A PROGRESSIVES WEBSITE AS TRUTH.
What is wrong with all of you naysayers. Ted wants the borders closed. First priority. We will need replacement workers because America is getting older and we didn’t create enough children. They will have to come from somewhere.
