Reminds me of the old story they told us kids during the cold war - a teacher somewhere behind the Iron Curtain invites their class to close their eyes and pray for a piece of candy.

Upon opening them they discover God has not answered their prayer. The teacher then suggests they close their eyes and ask their Dear Leader for same.

Presto, the candy appears. The beginning of their indoctrination.
