OKLAHOMA CITY Fans of Western swing music should mark March 25 on their calendars. Thats the date of the annual Bob Wills Day celebration at the Oklahoma State Capitol this year.
Fiddlers and other musicians will perform from 9 a.m. to noon in the House of Representatives chamber, and from 1 to 3 p.m. in the fourth floor rotunda. All Oklahomans are invited to come to the Capitol and enjoy the music and camaraderie, said state Rep. Mike Brown, D-Tahlequah, event coordinator.
I thought he meant Junior Brown.
AAHH!! Bob Wills, with the “Wills” in falsetto! Love him.

He also spent time in New Mexico, studied to be a barber and I guess he did that some.
There is the man who put SWING in Western music! Man after my own heart(with a razor)!
“The Texas Playboys are on the air!”
Started off on the radio in Dallas TX with Pappy O’Daniel’s Light Crust Dough Boys, later went to Tulsa!
Then to California for a while, then back to TULSA where he played for years at CAIN’S BALL ROOM.
My Mother-in-law went to the same church in Dallas as some of the Doughboys. She asked them why they did not play more music than just the short time allotted them on the radio.
His answer was that too many of the women listeners did not want to miss their radio soap operas.
I’ve spent a lot of money over the years on Bob Wills LPs & CDs.
