Yeah, I thought that too. I had visions of Ice bergs crashing into it! Trying to figure out how many lanes it would be. Also constructing huge rest areas. It would be amazing though lol! How about a huge underground subway system circling the globe!

So, they want to build a road so the Russians could just drive their tanks into North America?

Exactly my first reaction. Not just Russians. Chinese too. The ocean buffer is a good thing. It places a logistical hurdle to invasion by foreign forces. Let's not build a bridge over the moat.

I’d imagine that would be a run ride for the first couple hundred miles, but after awhile it would get VERY boring! lol

There would probably be serious problems with drivers falling asleep at the wheel. As you said, they would have to find a way to build huge ‘rest areas’ of some sort. Maybe a large space built off the road with refueling, auto repair/garage, restaurants, lodging, and maybe some kind of entertainment. Basically a massive truck stop type place. There could be smaller ones every 50-100 miles that are like your basic convenience store, and the larger ones like I mentioned above maybe every 500-700 miles or so.

If done right, it would be pretty cool, and profitable too; for whichever businesses that ran the services within the travel stops. It could be open for bidding on multi-year contracts for who wants to do it. I’m sure there would be MANY other issues that would have to be worked out that I have no clue about, but things like this are fun to muse over. lol

Someone notify Clark W. Griswold so he can warm up the ol’ Truckster for the ultimate “Vacation” movie sequence.

I swear, it’s like the russians have super magnets in their cars and steering wheels with about 10 inches of give on the torque.

That’s what I discovered.

Virtually impassable.

Then I looked at a trip from Eastern Russia to South Africa.

A much greater distance, but getting through the Middle east would present a whole new set of challenges.

I still think someone could get full sponsorship for this challenge.

They could generate dozens and dozens of promotional material for their products.

I presumed not. Is there much of a market for any vehicle transit across the strait by small vessels?

That seems like the long way around. They should go west from the U.K. the the east coast of the U.S. Hey, they built the Chunnel, right? The Atlantic shouldn’t be a challenge.

Deathrace 2000 (the original not the terrible remake)

You mean the one with Fred (Herman The German) Grandy?

Actually, this could be just the thing for Clarkson now that the Beeb kicked him to the curb
