Obama Says US Considering Support of Palestinian State at UN [Netanyahu & Israel]

JNS.org – President Barack Obama said at a news conference on Tuesday that the US is considering the possibility of supporting the unilateral recognition of a Palestinian state through the United Nations as part of his administration’s ongoing re-evaluation of relations with Israel.

Late last year, the US voted against a Palestinian-initiated resolution in the UN Security Council that called for a Palestinian state with borders based on the pre-1967 lines. The measure garnered eight affirmative votes among the 15-member Security Council, falling just one short of the nine votes it needed to pass.

Obama on Tuesday continued his recent criticism of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in the aftermath of the latter’s re-election, saying, “Netanyahu, in the election run-up, stated that a Palestinian state would not occur while he was prime minister. And I took him at his word that that’s what he meant.” Obama made similar comments in an interview with The Huffington Post that was published last weekend, despite the fact that Netanyahu has reaffirmed his support for a demilitarized Palestinian state that recognizes a Jewish state.

“Afterwards, he (Netanyahu) pointed out that he didn’t say ‘never,’ but that there would be a series of conditions in which a Palestinian state could potentially be created,” Obama said Tuesday. “But, of course, the conditions were such that they would be impossible to meet any time soon.”

Which is exactly what Netanyahu said.

And which Obama is contributing to by supporting the Hamas (terrorist organization started by ValJar's Muslim Brotherhood and Iran) controlled areas where the "Palestinians" now reside.

And he (Obama) wants an aggressively armed and militant Palestine state so they can continue to assault Israel.

The only positive thing I can see about a Palestinian state is they would be a sovereign country unto themselves and therefore if they send just one rocket into another sovereign country (Israel) it would be an act of war and Israel would be justified in destroying all their military capibilites and weaponry.

The other positive thing (and this is real serious too) is to keep SIX MILLION ARABS out of Israel! There already exists 20% of the population of Israel ... who are ARABS and have full citizenship rights!

Israel is very accommodating to it’s Arab citizens.

Israel is definitely aware that when looking at or considering an Arab Israeli citizen or a Palestinian in the PA territories that they might be a Hamas operative. How do I know that? ... Because Israel has had a lot of Palestinian Hamas operatives in the West Bank (Judea and Samaria) arrested! Israel can distinguish between the two and they seem to handle it okay.

Palestinian Authority (PA) security services raided the PA-controlled areas on Monday and arrested dozens of Hamas supporters and operatives, Palestinian news agency Ma’an reports.

Hamas said in a statement that the arrests began on Sunday evening and continued into Monday, with detainees ostensibly including students and academics.

A source inside the terror organization’s headquarters, who asked to remain anonymous, told AFP that 60 members of Hamas were arrested. A PA security force official, also requesting anonymity, confirmed approximately 40 arrests, without elaborating on details.

It is likely that these arrests are taking place to prevent a possible Hamas terror attack that would aim to influence the Israeli elections next week.

This latest stage in the broadening rift between Hamas and Fatah is believed to be in response to the detention of senior Fatah official Mamoon Sweidan by Hamas security forces in Gaza a few days ago.
