After the Columbine and Sandy Hook school shootings by mentally diseased individuals there was much demand made for gun control will there now be demands made for plane control? This fellow killed more than all of the US school shootings combined. Blame the tool and not the individual.

Not sure about the Muslim thing yet. They are usually vocal about doing this type of thing.

Can anyone chime in on this use of the word tomato in German culture.

Does this mean female?
Gay?
Or what?

Well ... I’m not flying

Not funny...neither am I.
For that and other reasons, starting with idiotic TSA abuse.

If he was an Islamic convert we don’t want the people to know since it could cause them concern. We need to promote the Religion of Peace meme.

Islam and depression could be a deadly combination.

Pray America is waking

It said he had received “specific and regular medical treatment” ever since he suffered a “serious depressive episode” in 2009.”

Could be some German laws not allowing discrimination based on his handicap.

This is going to be a wild ride on the lawsuit train...

21 years ago a Fed Ex Flight Engineer attempted to kill the Captain and First Officer.

Federal Express Flight 705

7 April 1994 - Fedex 705

Flight Engineer Auburn Calloway knew his career was about to end. His employer, Federal Express, had recently uncovered a series of irregularities and outright falsifications in both his original employment application and in hundreds of hours of flight records. He was ordered to appear at a disciplinary hearing in the second week of April, 1994. He understood that the likeliest outcome of such a hearing would be his termination, and subsequently the loss of his FAA flight certification.

His solution was as simple as it was horrifying. He would provide for his family financially, end his own life, and in the process he would punish FedEx in the worst way imaginable.

This is interesting. Don’t know if it applies to all handicapped people.

“It stipulates that the employer cannot give notice of termination to the disabled employee without consent of the Social Authority. This means, as soon as a blind or a visually impaired employee has been working longer than 6 months in a job, he/she has a protection against unlawful dismissal so strong that it is considered by some critics an impediment for employment. Some employers argue that they are deterred by the thought that they will not be able to fire disabled employees who are not meeting their expectations.”

It was suggested today that Lubitz - who had worked for Lufthansa as a cabin attendant for nearly a year before being accepted for flight training - may have been teased by other pilot's over his previous role.

A friend said: 'His nickname was "Tomato Andy

I wonder if the pilot and/or other flight crew had been riding him with the Tomato Andy thing. It might explain his extreme course of action - not suicide but murder of the crew.

If I recall correctly, his pilot license was getting ready to expire in a few months.

http://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/news/uk-world-news/germanwings-plane-crash-live-updates-5409367

Germany’s Federal Aviation Office has confirmed that Lubitz had a ‘medical condition’ noted on his pilot’s medical certificate.

According to the Wall Street Journal, Holger Kasperski, a spokesman for the office, would not say if the note related to the co-pilot’s mental or physical state.

He said: “We have a pilot license and a medical certificate. There is a SIC record.

“SIC means specific regular examination. We don’t know what [condition] it refers to.”

That is what I am wondering...such as the Captain had been calling him Tomato Andy.

If he was already mentally ill...something like that could really effect him.
