GenCon, the worlds biggest convention for tabletop gaming and a massive moneymaking machine for the State of Indiana, has responded to a bill that legalizes discrimination against LGBT customers by threatening to leave the stateand take their $50 million-a-year convention elsewhere.
This isnt because GenCon is run by political progressives or social justice warriors trying to make a difference. It really, really isnt. If GenCon leaves Indianapolis itll be for the same reason it came to Indianapolis and abandoned its original home of Wisconsin, the home state of founder of D&D Gary Gygax (peace be upon him).
Because it makes business sense.

There will be no “economic impact” because these lies spewed by the sodomite left are just that, lies.

Gambling money is no good for Indiana or any state IMHO.
The great irony is that businesses are putting stickers in their windows welcoming gay business. The writer of this hissyfit is spitting on them.
Homofascists and genderqueer advocates have been trying take over fandom cons of late. The gripes appear to be nationally noted.
At Worldcon (which has run on for over 70 years), the newbie activists were bitter about the ‘old’ dudes with outdated attitudes there and they were happy that they would soon be dying off. So much for celebrating diversity, ageism is okay discrimination I guess.
It’s board games, not gambling. People who stay up all night chugging mountain dew and rolling dice.
Gaming, not gambling...think Dungeons and Dragons and so forth...the only businesses that MIGHT be impacted would be fast food ‘restaurants’, pizza joints, and such...I hope this doesn’t make Sheldon Cooper cry.
It’s long past time we let the social tyrants walk. The money will be replaced and I would argue that standing up to the satanic left will probably result in an economic bonanza for us anyway.
When confronted we must fight for what’s right. Publically embarrass activist judges who ignore the Constitution.
Hotels, air travel, and convention center business are lost.
Additionally, the wives of some attendees visit the town and going on a shopping spree.

Thanks for telling me the difference between the two. Knowing that, I put Dungeons and Dragons, etc. in that same category.

Forcing people to sell to any one is unconstitutional, as well as forcing to buy.
Remind me to never share a foxhole with you, Sunshine.
the politically correct are everywhere seeking to make everything (including recreation and collecting hobbies) political.
They could move it back to Wisconsin, but that means it’ll have to be a much smaller convention than currently, given the limits of the convention center in Milwaukee, WI.
Tactically, it might be better to pass a narrowly defined law that protects religious institutions and religious groups that seek to exclude individuals that engage in morally unacceptable behavior or hold opinions that are inconsistent with their faith. This would have a better chance of preventing gay marriage from being foisted on Bible believing Churches.
A broadly defined law would have less public support and would be less likely to survive in the courts. Once gay activists succeed in forcing principled religious institutions to perform gay marriage or disband, or go underground, we will have lost religious liberty entirely.
TAnyone familiar with Gamer funk knows this should be considered no great loss.
Fight economic fire with fire. It is unfortunate warfare, but necessary. Make it more expensive for companies to actively support GLBT zealotry than not.
Let them go to San Francisco.
