Ted Cruz doesn’t have a prayer: Why the Texas senator will never sniff the White House
Salon ^ | March 28, 2015 | Matthew Rozsa, Ph.D. candidate, Lehigh University

Posted on 03/28/2015 11:18:47 AM PDT by 2ndDivisionVet

Despite what he wants you to think, Ted Cruz is not the great anti-politician of our time. In fact, he may be our most potent symbol of everything that is wrong with modern politics.

This would be hard to believe if you’ve been listening to him, of course. He desperately wants to be thought of as the one principled man in Washington—at least if your values hew closely to those of the Tea Party—but that posturing has alienated much of the party establishment. Ted Cruz attributes that development to them being “squishes,” while the rest of the world suspects it’s because Cruz is the kind of guy who goes around calling his co-workers names like “squishes.”

Of course, being a showboat is forgivable in American politics; if it wasn’t, Bill Clinton wouldn’t still be as popular as he is today. The bigger problem with Cruz is that the thematic basis for his showboating—that he won’t sell out like the rest of the Washington phonies—is a whole lot of bunk, like the rest of his campaign. After all, Googling ”Ted Cruz lies” pulls back an astonishing 7,890,000 results, and on Twitter, the two phrases are basically synonymous....

Ted Cruz, of course, is somewhat charismatic—and also has a bit of “Mr. Smith goes to Washington” in him.

He’s totally charismatic when he goes 100% candid - the left is learning this miserable lesson - and he is the epitome of Mr. Smith. I think Ted has been planning to de-corrupt DC for ten if not twenty years.

It could also be the start of a “Stouthearted Men” trend. Others may be emboldened as they see no, the sky did not fall when Cruz dared ask for a laundry list of the eminently sensible.

Or, they could stand back and hoot.

Walker is probably going to go along, just my gut feeling. Might end up being the veep to Cruz. Others? Dunno.

“Another brainwashed automaton who has never worked a day in his life or paid a dime in income taxes spewing the party line.”

***

I just looked him up. Among other useless ventures, he was “Field Organizer” for Democrat Tom Wolf for about 3 months last year during Wolf's campaign for PA governor.

Great. Another “organizer” who has never worked a real job. No wonder Obama is his hero.

The sad thing is that some of those whom Cruz expected to stand with him, in a stand that was both principled & actually very pragmatic, made a major tactical error--from their own standpoint--in not doing so.

Cruz's stands are readily explainable. (How To Respond To Anti-American Lies In An Election.) Those politicians who have allowed the media to intimidate them over certain issues, are largely worthless as leaders. But watch some of them appear to gain courage, as Cruz starts to gain momentum.

Better late than never. I am forced by the grace of God to see things on a heavenly level. It is the devil we are bound to fight, and even the most craven human in our view might (for all we know) turn from folly. It is not our job to damn the eternally unrepentant since we don’t even know who that is. It is our job to try to win as many souls as possible while it is still day.

Cruz is handily apropos (in Spanish) of the Cross of Christ, which is the suffering He underwent for the sake of carrying away the sin of us sinners who did not deserve such favor in the least. But it made it possible for Him to carry sinners into His resurrection power.

Cruz is going to have a huge spiritual burden, again apropos of the name. He is willing. Are we willing to do our part, and carry the burden to God on our hearts in prayer?

Could it be a poetic upset is coming up? Cruz to victory, then “Walker” out of the now empty political tomb?
