Ted Cruz defends presidential credentials
CNN ^ | MARCH 29, 2015 | Eric Bradner

WASHINGTON (CNN) — They’re both Harvard Law School graduates, constitutional lawyers and senators who launched presidential campaigns during their first terms.

But Ted Cruz has little else in common with Barack Obama, he said Sunday.

“I think there are a lot more notable differences between us than the similarities,” the Texas Republican told CNN’s Dana Bash on “State of the Union.”

He said he’s had much more influence in the Senate than Obama, who he said was a “back-bencher” during his four years there.

“He had not been leading on issues of any significance,” Cruz said. “In my time in the Senate, you can accuse me of being a lot of things, but a back-bencher is not one of them.”

. . .

“I was not a community organizer before I was elected to the Senate,” Cruz said, referring to Obama’s work after college and before law school.

“I spent five and a half years as the solicitor-general of Texas, the chief lawyer for the state of Texas in front of the U.S. Supreme Court,” he said. “I supervised and led every appeal for the state of Texas in a 4,000 person agency with over 700 lawyers and over the course of five and a half years, over and over again, Texas led the nation defending conservative principles and winning.”

Good catch, Walrus.

They can’t help but add their snarky little comments. Cruz has them running scared already ;)

Wisdom is worthless without Courage. We have few in Washington with true virtue and all virtue is hinged on all the other virtues.

He seems to me to be the wisest and more charismatic of any candidate and he has the right skin coloring which scares the Leftists to death. Useless idiots will also vote for him just because of the spelling of his name (ha ha) and the Leftists won’t be able to stop that.

What an exceptional mind, Cruz has.

Not court order, but one of the first executive orders Obummer signed was the one to seal his records.
Think about THAT!

Nice write-up. Thanks for providing it for us.

I see two pertinent things. 1 - he knows and will defend the Constitution. At this point, with those in DC of both parties leaving that precious document in tatters, I’d rather have someone like Cruz that will put the Constitution first vs. someone with executive experience. A true conservative is my highest priority, after all the backstabbing by RINOs.
2 - he’s an awesome debater. Not just our opinion - those here that love him - but Princeton’s opinion and the opinion of all the debate judges. And we need someone that can be quick on their feet, since they will be having to contend not only with the Dems, but with a biased press, his own party turning on him, and RINOs in Congress. In other words, we need someone spectacular. Cruz fits that.

Sorry, I don’t get the connection to his skin color or name spelling? He looks white to me...is Cruz a Cuban name?

BHO had to run on his experience as a community organizer because that was his lifetime achievement. Cruz actually has experience.

but, ultimately, this isn’t a comparison between senate records. it’s an example of why it’s hard for a senator to get elected president.

B.S.

To date, sixteen senators have also served as president of the United States. Three senators, Warren G. Harding, John F. Kennedy, and Barack Obama moved directly from the U.S. Senate to the White House.

You pretty well just proved my point.

And Jesus, you people are touchy. anything short of drooling adulation, and you flip out.

One major difference:

Ted Cruz was a U.S. citizen at birth, while “Obama” is an illegal alien.

No, exactly the opposite.

you stated how hard it was to become President if your were a senator.

We've had how many Presidents? 43

Number that were Senators? 16

Well over a third.

Give it up, you were wrong.

And we are not touchy, just tired of the dishonest reasons posted, mostly by Walker supporters, of why Ted Cruz can't win and therefore does not deserve the support of conservatives.

Take a hike!

That's not true either - Obama executive orders.

your list is intended to deceive. remove from that list the men that were vice president or governor after they were senators, and your list (like your argument) evaporates. although if you want to hang your hat on JFK and BHO, knock yourself out.

the point is that it's difficult for sitting senators to get elected president. the office just doesn't lend itself to executive preparation. try not to freak out over this simple truth.

B.S. again.

Your post forced me to re-double my research, accordingly, there was actually 18, not 16, who were not Governors or Generals(I'm being generous here again).

Some were Senators, some were congressmen, and the rest were something else.

The one thing they had in common, none of them had Executive Experience related to being President.

1. James Monroe
2. John Adams
3. James Madison
4. Zachary Taylor
5. Millard Fillmore
6. Franklin Pierce
7. James Buchanan
8. Abraham Lincoln
9. Chester A. Arthur
10. Benjamin Harrison
11. Warren G. Harding
12. Herbert Hoover
13. Harry S. Truman
14. John F. Kennedy
15. Lyndon B. Johnson
16. Richard M. Nixon
17. Gerald Ford
18. George H.W. Bush

*ahem* being Vice President is executive experience. dude, srsly. Give it up. If the worst thing anyone can say about Ted Cruz is that it's difficult for a sitting senator to be elected president (and that is the absolute worst thing anyone can possibly say) then he's doing very, very well.

If you can't make yourself admit that one tiny thing, then you're not advocating a candidate for president, you've got a man crush.

Now you're just making yourself look silly.

Being VP is a position that is mostly ceremonial in nature, even being President of the Senate for Tie-Breakers has very little to do with being an executive.

Once again, a dishonest position by a Walker supporter.

that’s it. you’ve lost it. you’re willing to contort the universe just so you don’t have to admit a single tiny little detail that’s arguably irrelevant.

that’s just irrational.
