Cowards won’t even talk about the bills and what they really are. They run scared over bad press.
Utterly disgusting.

Of course, the joke was on Arkansans. Tyson would say “We need illegals for our chicken factories.” Huckster would reply, “How many ya need ?”

If they will not fight now when they can easily win, soon they may have to fight just to survive and be driven to hidden and secret church services like in the old USSR and in Communist China.

They need to make it clear we condemn the sin and not the sinner, but that because man suddenly says something is okay does not mean God has changed his mind. If the current church leadership continues to pick and choose the scripture pretty soon what is the point, everything is acceptable.

The Catholic church, and evangelical leaders need to make it clear we will not be segregated and treated as second class citizens because one group demands we kowtow to them and does so intentionally. The gay gastopo must be stopped and reigned in or this will end badly for all parties involved.

Rush is right again, we are the majority, and they do everything to make us believe we are not.

Well, to tell you what I’ve thought about this legislation, all along, is that it’s the “gay issue” that brought it out ... BUT ... it’s not JUST about gays, but preventing Christian business owners from being forced into do several things that they consider to be VIOLATIONS of deeply-held religious convictions!

I posted elsewhere ...

— — —

To me, this kind of legislation seems to have a lot more to do with OTHER THINGS, other than gays. It seems that the “gay issue” is driving the discussion, but to me, that “gay issue” seems to be a minor point, as compared to ALL of what legislation guaranteeing “Christian Conscience” in business is about.

Unless I’m mistaken about what this kind of bill means, I see this bill as preserving the “conscience” of a Christian owner of a business from serving or doing business with a person who violates that “religious conscience” by who they are or what they represent or what they stand for. SO, in that sense, it is NOT TARGETED at gays, but all sorts of other things that would violate the “Christian’s conscience”!

A sampling of some other things I can think of, in which one would DENY SERVICE to people, would be a group coming in for Pizza who supports ABORTION! That would really violate a Christian’s conscience.

Or, if a Mormon church group came in and had an “after church Pizza gathering” some Sunday afternoon. I would DENY THEM SERVICE as they are one of the largest CULT GROUPS in America ... and as far as I’m concerned Mormons shouldn’t get service from ANY CHRISTIAN BUSINESS WHATSOEVER, ANYWHERE!!

If Mitt Romney were to come in to that Pizza place he SHOULD BE DENIED SERVICE because of clearly being a Mormon!

I would DENY SERVICE to GLENN BECK, too, for his Mormonism!

SO ... it doesn’t appear to be a “gay issue” but a VERY REAL “Religious Conscience” issue and opens the door to CHRISTIAN BUSINESS to serving Christians and not VIOLATING their religious conscience!

I should ALSO point out that any legislation in our secular government (because there never has been anything in government that is Christian, at any time on the past) ... that this legislation can also preserve the “religious conscience” of a Muslim refusing service to a Christian or Jew. It can also be used in refusing service to a Christian by Atheist business owners (as that’s their religion, a religion of “man”).

This “sword” cuts both ways ... for Christians and against Christians!

I agree.

But fight how? Our elected officials won’t fight for us, so enacting legislation is off the table. If it were up to me, states would be nullifying Lawrence v. Texas and throwing queers in jail, but show me an elected official willing to do that.

So now what? I keep reading on FR that the queers can’t make us accept them, and things like “I for one will never accept fag marriage,” and so on - but so what? So we don’t accept it in our hearts, and that’s it? Fight’s over?

Is private contempt really the best we can do here?

The problem is, Christians lost the culture war. The left told homosexuals that they’re loved. The right told them they’re going to hell. It’s actually that simple.

I'm an ex-mormon, so I have some pretty strong opinions about the doctrine...but when it comes to the people, I assess each independently and individually. For the most part, they're good folks, just like any other group. You'd be really hard pressed to be able to tell they were mormon unless they were missionaries wearing their name tags.

Your position, although yours, to me, is quite extreme. Instead of taking an opportunity to possibly witness to them, you'd rather ostracize them. Cult or not, most are quite ignorant of what their doctrine actually involves.

Btw, you needn't worry about a mormon group seeking service in your pizza place on Sunday...they typically don't do anything but go to church, a few meetings and then hang at home...

It was just an example ... It can be Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday or Saturday ... too! ... :-) ...

BUT ... what I consider EXTREME is Mormon teachings and doctrines sending a person STRAIGHT TO HELL for ETERNITY. Now, THAT is extreme!

Well, I have had a Freeper say that if I can’t take having people violate my deeply-held Christian values in a business, then I should simply NOT BE IN BUSINESS! ... LOL ...

It’s infected us here on Free Republic, too!

The doctrine is highly problematic, I wholly agree, that’s why I’m an ex-mormon.

All I’m saying is that the people (mormons) are usually not. I can agree to disagree with many on many different topics, but at the end of the day, are we in common with most other things?

Taking an edifying and loving approach to mormons in showing them the errors of mormonism is usually quite successful. For others, not so much.

Honey, vinegar kind of thing.

Fight how? That one I do not have the answer to. I vote, but that does not seem to do any good any longer. They say this, they say that. They get elected and they do as they damn well please. I suppose we could start at home teaching our children the Nation’s heritage and why we believe what we believe . I ran the idea to someone who teaches the Young People Class of Sunday School at Church about teaching the young people why, as Baptists, we believe what we believe. He was not interested. I offered to do it. Same response. Not interested.

Personal testimony... I have sat in church and heard the Pastor’s wife ask for prayers because the homosexuals said they will rape her teenage boys at their school. So no, the media is not proclaiming the pastor’s messages, but that doesn’t mean they are silent. This was over the Modern Family show.

“It wasn’t all that long ago that Proposition 8, which supported traditional marriage, passed overwhelmingly in deep-blue California.”

Prop. 8 passed by 52% in 2008. 8 years before CA passed prop. 22 by 61%. CA lost 9% in 8 years on ‘gay marriage’ with actual voters. In 2012 North Carolina passed its amendment by 61% and was hailed as a great victory, but all it really did was tie the CA of 12 years before, something no one would have believed had they been told that in the year 2000.

If anyone wants to know why conservative Christians have a hard time uniting to defend culture, simply search ‘Manhattan declaration’ on Free Republic, and read some of those threads. That happened around 2009, when there were less than ten states with ‘gay marriage.’

And when the first actual states had their amendments overturned by federal judges, that wasn’t a big story on FR. Instead, there were dozens of threads about a cable reality show star being suspended for saying he thought gay acts were gross right before the Christmas merch buying season and the start of the new season of the cable reality show.

Conservatives just don't do direction action very well. The most recent approximation was Operation Rescue, which was quashed by cowardly Christian leaders. Chik Fil A was a one off thing that we could do in our cars. Did not cost anything beyond the price of a meal.
