Cadillac is years behind bmw, audi, benz. They make terrible sports sedans and have no audience. Lexus seems to attract the vacuous 35-45 crowd that want a car that reflects their youthful success rather than their taste in fine cars.

Mazda just introduced the new Miata in New York...

Used to be a girls car, wonder if they beefed up the car to be more like the Z5

We just bought my first foreign car after owning Fords for 30 years. An Audi Q7. My wife’s car. :)

I drive a 2008 CTS Premium Edition. Nice car.

Me too. I bought it used two years ago for less than the price of a Toyota. It's a $60,000+ car that just turned 30K miles last month. I'm still trying to figure out all the gadgets - it has everything. This car hauls ass and corners like a sportscar. I love it! I've wanted a Caddy since childhood and finally got one.

Am currently driving a 2006 Jag but have decided my next car will be an Audi. I’ve been looking for awhile but still love my Jag and just can’t pull the trigger yet. Lol

Be mindful of the throttle. I don’t know about other models but the Q7 has a weird throttle response. Mine is the 3.0 model. They have a lot of lag and then take off! There is no turbo so I believe it is the throttle by wire issue.

My Jag does that occasionally. I thought it was a transmission problem. Hmmmm.

It might be. I know the Audi has like 8 speed gearbox and it takes a while for it to down shift. I drive ours in the sport mode for better throttle response.

I currently own a 1984 Mercedes Benz 300D that I bought for $100 in 2004 and CANNOT KILL no matter what I do.

The German brands have yet to get to the general level of maintenance friendliness of the American brands (GM/Chrysler/pre-Mulally Ford). To some extent, even the Japanese brands do this with their tight engine compartments.

Is it too much to ask to have a roomy engine compartment, major parts without “sealed lifetime lubricant”, and higher displacement per dollar? Not saying that Detroit doesn’t do those individually, but Cadillac’s German competitors (such as BMW and Audi) are known for “interesting” engineering on the inside.

At the very least, going with Cadillac means offending environuts the world over - a good thing.

When General Motors and Chrysler aren’t the only options for an affordable V6/V8-powered car, the imports might have a chance. I’m set against giving in to environuts.

I don’t particularly like the bailouts, but I expect a certain response out of what I drive. So far, that’s not coming from Japan or Germany - save for the exotics.

Anyone who says the economy is getting better is nuts or an Obama acolyte. But I repeat myself.

Sounds like my journey. We were going to replace the Lexus but sticker shock...yikes! Who wants to lay out that kind of dinero for a car than some leftard is just going to bash when they open their door in a parking lot?

Replacing one with a Toyata was 6K more than what I paid for the Lexus, but then we keep cars forever.
