Did Biden Tell America's Jews to Leave?

Was it another of US Vice President Joe Biden’s now infamous verbal gaffes when he told American Jews last fall that they will ultimately be safe only in Israel?

At a time when Western nations are trying to convince their Jewish populations to stay amid rising anti-Semitism, it seems incredible that America’s #2 would essentially warn his nation’s Jews to flee.

But that’s precisely what Biden did while hosting a Rosh Hashanah party attended by senior American Jewish leaders last September.

Journalist Jeffrey Goldberg of The Atlantic wrote that Biden began by recounting his first meeting with legendary former Israeli Prime Minister Golda Meir, who told the young US senator that the Jews’ secret weapon in their war for Israel’s survival was that they had no place else to go.

Biden apparently agreed wholeheartedly, going so far as to suggest that even America was no safe haven for Jews.

“You understand in your bones that no matter how hospitable, no matter how consequential, no matter how engaged, no matter how deeply involved you are in the United States…there is really only one absolute guarantee, and that’s the state of Israel,” Biden said to the astonishment of many.

Of course, it can and has been argued that Biden’s point of view is correct, and that ultimately even the Jews of America will have no choice but to flee to the relative safety of Israel.

Much has been made of rising anti-Semitism in Europe, but the same is true of the United States of late. The annual Audit of Anti-Semitic Incidents published by the Anti-Defamation League revealed a 21 percent increase in anti-Semitism incidents in the US in 2014.

Biden’s remarks last fall might be seen as an embarrassing and offensive lapse of judgment, especially given overwhelming Jewish support for his Democratic Party, but they might also be a very prescient warning of things to come.

No, he wasn't telling them to leave, just if Jews become the focus of violence in the USA, the government won't be able to protect them and they'll have to leave. I suppose they could convert, and maybe black Jews could stay.

On the one hand probably just the babbling of a fool, but he must accept that view to some extent to verbalize it. In a serious conversation. And in fairness Joe did clarify his statement with the qualifier absolute. There are other groups for whom this administration isn't the absolute source of protection, in fact the government persecutes them. But usually it's based on political opposition.

Why not? they did in 2012, after the DNC THRICE voted God and Israel off their party platform.

Catholics have, and continue to, vote the abortion party into power. They (we-I am catholic-but not i- I do not vote pro abort, it is a non negotiable for me AND in my religion that’s a fact) vote 50% dem

There it is in just about every presidential election

AND Catholics take up a lot more people bigger voting bloc than the Jews.

They have a higher impact. If Catholics would refuse to vote pro abortion, which is a sin, btw, according to cardinal Burke, the country would be different

If Catholics would stand up to the pro gay lifestyle agenda we wouldn’t have this

I read ‘why do Jews vote for these guys?’ all day long

Where is ‘ why do Catholics put these guys onto power?’

If I was Jewish, that is how I would take his remark. I am not Jewish and I took it as a threat to the Jews.

If Biden had been a Republican, the media would have went wild. They would still be going. But since he is a Democrat it was just brushed over and buried. But his remark does tell the Jews with ears to hear, what the political party they worship thinks of them as human beings. But, then again, Hillary Clinton did that a number of years ago but they still worship.

Obama's determination that Iran will get nukes is not compatible with Biden's view that Israel is the safest place for Jews to live.

Until now, the countries which have acquired nuclear weapons have done so for defensive reasons. Iran would be the first to do so with the avowed purpose of using them to destroy another country (or countries). Iraq might have been the first if Bush had not removed Saddam.

A major difference between the Jewish and Catholic voter blocs is that the former is 80-90% Democrat, while the latter is about 50-50. If you dealt with white Catholics only, the conservative vote percentage is greater than that of mainline white Protestants but less than that of evangelical white Protestants. The Supreme Court reflects this: the three Jewish justices are liberal; of the six Catholics, three are conservative (Alito, Thomas, and Scalia), the other three are moderate to liberal.

If this country becomes totally unsafe for Jews, it won’t be safe for Christians, either, and this is already beginning to happen to Christians. I have said several times on FR that I have started wearing, every day, a chain with a cross on it so all can see I am a Christian. I spit in the eyes of Obama’s henchmen.

Well, I have Fox news on and just heard Obama is sending Muslim clergy to prisons to counsel prisoners. I suppose this means Christian clergy is no longer welcome in prisons. Appears Obama/Muslims are trying to totally remove God/Christ from this country and that includes trying to get Christians to shut up about their religion. I’m not shutting up.

You can analyze it and talk statistics

Here’s one, Catholics, regardless of what they look like, where they come from, etc, and whether or not they are clergy, are bound by the teachings of the Church. Pro abortion, same sex lifestyle, and even birth control, are all against Church teaching

Many Catholics THINK they have a choice, and think the Church is a democratic organization. It’s not.

They take up a voting bloc that affects outcome in pres elections. Jews do not

So my original question goes to blaming of Jews constantly when it is horrific that the Catholics on this country raise to fix abortion and all the trappings of birth control (from where abortion originates)
And people don’t bring that up while hammering secular Jews all the time
