Dianne Feinstein says the Anarchist’s Cookbook should be “removed from the Internet”

Two women were arrested in New York today for allegedly planning an ISIS-inspired plot to use “weapons of mass destruction against persons or property in the United States,” according to the Justice Department.

In a press release praising the FBI and the NYPD for their work on the case, Senator Dianne Feinstein of California said the following:

I am particularly struck that the alleged bombers made use of online bombmaking guides like the Anarchist Cookbook and Inspire Magazine. These documents are not, in my view, protected by the First Amendment and should be removed from the Internet.
The Anarchist’s Cookbook is a DIY bomb-making manual written in the early 1970s by William Powell, a young American living in New York who was protesting U.S. involvement in the Vietnam War. Powell went on to disown the book and express regret that it had ever been published. But the book lives on in print, as well as in thousands, perhaps millions of digital copies on the Internet. …

DiFi needs to get just a bit honest about this:
The cookbook has been around forever, my first copy was virtually brand new..."know your enemy" (wink/wink) when I was in the Army and so far it has not brought on the end of the world as we know it.
Inspire magazine, however, is a whole 'nother matter; encouraging lame brain westerners and 3d world transplants to attack non-muslim civilization and specifically kill people because some derivative cult demands it.

Dianne can't get over her glory days in the 'Frisco protest scene while she tries to be relevant in a world she helped to fashion.

Although the cookbook has been around forever Much of the information is incorrect and actually dangerous if you try to use it as a how-to manual. The author of the piece I linked wonders why there has never been a corrected revision and theorizes that it is actually used to track terrorist wanabees by giving them just enough information to either harm themselves or get themselves busted before they can do any real damage.

As the Tsarnaev brothers recently demonstrated, you don't need some outdated manual to raise havoc. There is much better and safer (for the terrorist wannabe, at least) info available

The Anarchist's Cookbook is well-known.

Inspire Magazine is less well known. However, it did achieve a degree of fame due to the Boston Marathon bombings, for which it supposedly served as the FM. It's a much slicker production than the Cookbook, as you can see here (scroll to page 33). However, like the Cookbook, it is just basic information.

The task is not to remove technical information from the internet (not possible, LOL!), but to remove Islam from the world!

Heh, what's funny about "Steal This Book", is that so many people actually DID steal it, bookstores stopped carrying it.

It's actually a pretty funny book, though very dated.

One chapter is very short: How to defeat a pay toilet?

Sneak under!

Here we go, now book burnings or confiscation on the way. Maybe visits from the DHS from website browsing. The fascists never stop plotting. But, Diane should know one of her own, Bill Ayers, used those formulas for his uprising. Now Bill is a celebrated liberal and a personal good friend of the President.

She probably thinks the same thing about firearm literature.

You've obviously never seen the piece of provocative, disruptive and dangerous trash known as "The Anarchist's Cookbook".

It's is literally an illustrated manual for do-it-yourself terrorism. It incites, instructs, and encourages criminal behavior.

Oddly, though, it probably has appeal among "preppers" so its defense here is understandable.

That is not quite correct. It is Sen. Diane Feinstein (D-CA) that needs purging from the Internet for hate speech.

What do you call a person trying out recipes from “the Anarchist’s Cookbook”?

Lefty.

“It incites, instructs, and encourages criminal behavior.”

It is a fine line sometimes. Reminds me of hearing about KKK marches. Even though they are outnumbered by the counter-protestors today, I think it is great that they have the right of free speech that I do. Even though I disagree with them.

Now, if an undercover cop or whoever catches them while planning some criminal act - throw the book at them.

"I’m no chemist. It seems to me that the easiest thing to use as weapon would be plain-jane gasoline. Rather than trying to figure out how to use the stuff under the kitchen sink."

Very true. In that case, an oil refinery has already done all of the hard work for ya.

For the sake of argument, let's concede the first part --

> These documents are not, in my view, protected by the First Amendment

-- and proceed to the second:

> and should be removed from the Internet.

How?

My copy has been in storage for twenty plus years and has probably been chewed to pulp and used for a hundred mouse nests by now. Fitting end for a big boring crappy book. What little I could stand to read of it was incredibly childlike and full of misinformation. Like listening to an eight-year-old boy tell you all the things he learned in school — from other eight-year-old boys.

I wouldn’t trust The Anarchist Cookbook as far as I could toss a boxcar full of rocks.

That aside, it’s amazing that a Senator of the United States is so naive that she thinks she can snap her fingers and make it disappear from the internet.

Is there a list of the things Democrats want to either ban or make mandatory? I think I could convince some in my realm that their beloved Left has become what the right used to be. I know people in their 30s who proudly think they are like the hippies of old. They say “I’m a hippie” and I say, “no, you’re not.” But many things have changed and gone unnoticed so that now the democrats are THE MAN...banning, controlling, mandating, intolerant of other’s beliefs, name-calling, shaming.
