I disagree. It looks a lot more like one of the Soviet WWII submachine guns or a 9mm Polish PPS 43. Please see:

The eye contact thing is so true. In my former days of riding a motorcycle I always tried to make eye contact with drivers of cars that could pull to in front of me. Never got hit and didn’t have any really close calls.

By the definition of magazine fed, a Browning BAR would also qualify as a submachine gun. Somehow that just doesn’t fit. Actually the term, “submachine gun,” was first coined by an army officer and inventor with the last name of Thompson. He defined a submachine gun as an automatic carbine sized weapon, intended to be used by a single person and which fired a pistol cartridge. It was largely an outgrowth of the experience of trench warfare in WWI.

Here's how they reason it:

There is a pistol called the Hi Power.
It comes in 9mm.
Therefore, all 9mm weapons are high-power.

No, the law is for “officer safety”, so the police can see into your car when they pull you over for daring to drive on their road.

I can’t tell from the pictures, but......

I believe I have seen a couple of these things at gun shows. It is classified as a pistol, because the “folding stock” does not unfold. It is semi-auto, of course.

Still probably illegal in New York.

With a few million miles under my wheels, I understand what you’re saying. I just disagree. Rather than eye contact, I tend to flash my lights if the entering vehicle seems to be indecisive or creeping.

While on my motorcycle I’ve been nearly hit by drivers pulling out even after I DID make eye contact. Lights work better.

It never fails - these stories always find the least common denominator with regard to technical expertise somewhere between the reporter and the editor. It's how we get such gems as "high-capacity ammo clip magazines". Journalists used to care about that sort of thing because it demonstrably hurts their credibility. These days, not so much.

Anti-Crime Unit cops from the 81st Precinct in Bedford-Stuyvesant pulled over a 2013 Chevy Impala on Ralph Ave. near Bainbridge St. on Wednesday evening because it had excessively tinted windows.

The nanny state constantly invents reasons to harass and generate revenue from citizens.

Then escalates by charging other invented crimes like possession of automatic weapons.

The guy was driving around with a .50 BMG in the car? That is wild, I can’t afford the ammo for something like that.

I was just thinking the same thing.

The problem with NY is they don’t sell a lot of ammo.
