This is a dad being a dad. What would you have done if it was your son?

Thank you for getting it. Forgiveness, in the Christian ideal, is not some penny candy to be handed out to make yourself feel good no matter what wrong you’ve suffered. Doing so cheapens it.

If one does that the sinner suffers no consequence for his acts. He’s free to continue to sin against others freely in their minds. “I can molest the rest of his kids because he will forgive me no matter what I do.”

That’s not being a Christian, that’s helping to create monsters.

True forgiveness must be earned by asking for it and then truly repenting of your evil deeds. Only then can true Christian forgiveness be offered. And that, my friend, is a gift beyond any earthly price.

Happy Easter.

Sounds like the father saved his son, and who’s to say the bruising wasn’t God rendering justice on the pervert?

It could be argued that Jesus was talking about the Romans, who scourged and crucified him. The gospels are clear that those who turned Jesus over to the Romans did know what they were doing.

Forgiving someone who has done damage, but has not repented, is something with which I struggle.

Doesn’t the scripture about forgiving someone if they repent refer to a brother in the Lord, whom you have gone to with a rebuke?

I don’t think so. None of those who crucified Jesus asked for His forgiveness - and, yet, he was praying to the Father for them. That doesn’t mean that they didn’t have to repent - because they did. Jesus also told us to forgive others 70 times 7 - and to pray for those who despitefully use us, and persecute us. Stephen and Jesus both were asking the Father so that they didn’t have any bitterness in their own hearts - none of those who stoned Stephen or crucified Jesus asked for their forgiveness - so, you take one scripture out of context. I suggest you do some in-depth study.

And, you know everything that took place and was said during this episode? Everyone of us would probably react as this father did - I know some on here have lots of bitterness in their hearts, but we must forgive those = and, yes those who don’t ask for it. In doing so no root of bitterness springs up in US - it’s for OUR benefit. God will deal with the perps.

Nope. 14 it is.

He’s going to learn in the next 25 years why I let him live.

No he won’t

He’ll go straight to Seg

He’d likely die in the GP

They might send him to a Fed joint with new name and jacket

But the hacks will rat him out to Alice Baker types

And he’ll go in transit for years maybe

Otisville Feds has a secure unit

Chesters and mob rats

Btw...it ain’t Bubba.....Shawshank and Deliverance are fantasies bowing to political correctness

In the penitentiary if a prisoner is forcibly raped....white boy usually but occasionally a minority falls prey

95-99% chance it will be a Tyrone or Leroy ....Amish in other words doing the homosexual assault on your person

In prison their demographic doesn’t frown on it as queer poking especially if victim is young white and cute

Exception.

Nation of Islam black fascists......homosexual shenanigans is a death sentence in their clique or tip

Just enlightening....not meaning to lecture u

Respectfully

In this situation, with the father and son, it’s a wonderful example of a father’s protection and love. The father was justified in how he responded. Law enforcement and the courts appear to have agreed.

As for forgiveness....I think it’s so wrong to expect that to be even considered in this situation. Much time needs to pass before that can be even in the equation..if it ever is or needs to be.

I believe there are some offenses that only God can forgive that we are not capable of doing nor should we have to.

You have a good Easter too....

Forgiving is often misunderstood.

Forgiveness, really, is NOT for the benefit of the person(s) being forgiven.

Forgiveness is for the benefit of the forgiver.

Forgiving someone who has wronged you removes that seed of bitterness from your heart, allows you to refocus yourself, says you trust God by giving the issue over to Him to deal with.

“In the meantime the actual God said do not seek your own vengeance. Romans 13 is there for a reason.”

Vengeance is a bad road to head down, ever, but taking out a pervert isn’t strictly vengeance. Prevention of anymore of the soul searing damage they do to their victims is one consideration.

I think we can all eventually find scripture to either support or condemn what dad did. Forgiveness and all things aside, there are a few things worth going to hell for, one of those few is protecting your family and this case qualifies in my humble opinion. Had I been in this situation, I'm not so sure I would have been able to stop until he was eliminated.

The fact remains, this sub-species example will be released from prison in 24 years. The young boy will be forever messed up because of him and gets to look forward to his personal monster being released into the wild one day, walking the same earth again and always wondering where the SOB is at. As a father, I'm not so sure I could allow that to happen... at any cost.

Forgiveness is for after the fact, not during the act. I seem to recall Jesus getting a little angry on those people who were selling stuff in the temple, overturning tables and in a bit of a rage.

This father acted perfectly. In my eyes, he was perfectly in bounds to beat the perp to death. He showed great mercy in allowing him to live and face justice.

He also showed his son how much he loves and cares for him. That should help the kids healing just a bit.
