POLITICO: CRUZ PATH TO VICTORY UNITES TEA PARTY, CHRISTIAN RIGHT
Breitbart ^ | 4/4/2015 | Breitbart News

Posted on 04/04/2015 9:53:28 PM PDT by gwgn02

Ted Cruz’s aggressive pursuit of the evangelical vote began with a deliberate choice of venue for his presidential announcement two weeks ago: Liberty University, which bills itself as the largest Christian university in the world. The Texas Republican senator’s strategic play for Christian conservatives comes into even sharper focus this weekend as he rolls out the first television ad of the 2016 race. Titled “Blessing,” the commercial is aimed directly at evangelical and social conservative voters in early voting states, timed for Easter weekend and slated to air during popular Christian-themed programming. It’s an exercise in narrowcasting that telegraphs exactly how Cruz intends to win the GOP nomination against better-funded and better-known rivals. His advisers say the Liberty University backdrop, the TV ads and even his recent two-day tour of Iowa are all part of a detailed blueprint designed to tap into the power of two distinct GOP wings — evangelicals and the tea party movement. With establishment voters breaking toward former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush, Florida Sen. Marco Rubio, and Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker — and libertarian-oriented conservatives likely to go for Kentucky Sen. Rand Paul — the Cruz team believes the Texas Republican must flat-out win the tea party set and finish either first or second among Christian conservatives, a bloc that dominates the GOP base in Iowa and South Carolina.

“I don’t think he could have had a better strategy, all the way from his launch to his swing through Iowa,“said Bob Vander Plaats, an influential social conservative leader in Iowa. “He’s had a strong announcement, and he’s going to be a strong candidate.”

I’ll tell you one thing I LOVE about Cruz. In both McCain’s and Romney’s campaigns, I had the distinct impression that neither one felt they knew what they were doing in terms of campaigning, and that they were really adrift when it came to messaging and letting people know what they stood for. But Cruz is just an effin’ general. That man KNOWS not only what he stands for and behind, but exactly who he wants to get the message to, and how to present it. This man has planned his campaign to a tee, and he’s going to trap the Dems like the French at Agincourt. I am watching this campaign already with the utmost admiration.

... I WANT a candidate that does that!

... Because- That’s ME!

... We can not eat our own-— WE must not fail the nation that was ours. I HATE those who criticize a candidate when he or she is not EXACTLY what they want.

THAT’S when we end up with EXACTLY what we don’t want!

We haven’t had a candidate who really wanted us since Ronald Wilson Reagan.

I never got the feeling McCain was on my side, and I know Romney wasn’t conservative no matter how he pretended. I think Cruz is the real thing.

Nay, Cruz is but a private, but he has made the Lord of Hosts his Commander in Chief and that makes all the difference.

Cruz’s biggest challenge will be to continue to see on the heavenly plane as the opposition heats up. God wants to bless America in spite of all its sins, for the sake of its believers and covenant people, in turn for the sake of His own love.

Your admiration is not unwarranted. He is playing chess, very well, while everyone else is still trying to figure out the rules of checkers. In a week, he has positioned himself to have a committed following in all of the main (overlapping) branches of conservatism: fiscal, social, constitutional, and defense. He is systematically gaining ground, and doing so in a manner that will make it very difficult for others to dislodge him, and will simultaneously appeal to various voting blocks that have a history of being less committed to party identification. It has been utterly brilliant, and, even if it were a less weighty contest, would be a fascinating blend of strategy and skill.

The GOPe, the media, the democrats — they have no idea what they are up against. They will continue whistling past the graveyard, unaware that it is they that are the ones being placed there (metaphorically). I had hoped that his political skill was adequate, so as to not get in the way of his brilliant understanding of the issues, his understanding of the constitution, and his ability to distill the complex into something understandable and persuasive. I sold him short. His political skill may be his greatest strength.

For the first time since I held out the faint hope that Bush Sr. would understand that 1988 was a request to continue what Reagan started (a hope that was, sadly, dashed), I believe that this country may have hope yet in avoiding the leftward drift that seems to inevitably destroy every countries’ potential.

Well said! Yes, Cruz gives me hope as well that we can dig our fingernails into the cliff side and claw our collective way back up where we belong.

Cruz has a brilliant mind. I have never seen such a brilliant person on the political stage— since forever.

More importantly, I think he has a good heart (a man of character) and the Left is gonna hate the fact that his last name is “Cruz”. Many ‘Useless Idiots’ voting will see that name an mark it, even if it has a R next to it. LOL.

Take Mike Allen, and every single stupid reporter that works there and throw them off a cliff. I can remember Mike Allen questioning—rather accusing Rick Perry about one of his aides saying something that was never said. As usual the left starts with a false premise and demands you answer. Perry did not fall for it, instead asking: “Do you have a name?” Mike badgered him again but Perry would not relent. “Give me a name.” Mike Allen could not so he gave up. When questioned about the incident on the Hugh Hewitt show, Allen deflected criticism and never answered the question, instead answering how “Perry had an interesting answer.” What a bunch of crap. Politico, Mike Allen and the entire crew does not deserve a hair’s breath of credibility, they are the quintessential example of agenda “journalism.”

And he's gonna be an excellent President!

I have never been this confident, this early, that we Conservatives finally have a contender that represents us. Your tagline is prescient.
