The only thing surprising is that the US flag was on top in the Peoples Republic of Washington.

Pray America is waking

I'm surprised that the cop assisted them, and did not arrest them. I'd sure like to hear more about the cop's involvement. Was he acting on his own, or was he enforcing some state flag law?

It wasn't. They were at the same level.

We used to fly the Confederate Battle Flag over the capitol dome in South Carolina. An equal outrage.

I was trying to find a pic of them after they were raised, but before the take-down.

I heard this morning on local conservative talk radio that this is common practice/protocol when ambassadors from other countries come to visit the state capitol.

However, what makes it really strange is that the ambassador had left the state capitol late Friday afternoon and they were planning to leave the foreign flag flying until Monday morning.

You have to watch the video. The “picture” is there — brief, but there.

I don’t think the Confederate flag is a symbol of racism. I think it symbolizes Southern heritage. Is racism part of Southern heritage? Yes. But racism is also part of Northern heritage. Obviously things would have been much better if slaves were not imported to the Americas from Africa. But this happened under colonial rule. Slavery was abolished under American rule of law. Facts conveniently ignored in history.

A communist banner and confederate flag share one common attribute, they were both revered by those who attempted to destroy the United States of America. (Not to mention another attribute, they are flown by those who feel they have the right to profit from the sweat and hard work of others.)

Now, Regal, you need to be considerate of those of us who disagree with your viewpoint. Your comments and tone remind me of a real hard core, liberal, Democrat union organizer, and I take real offense. I am proud to be a Southerner and equally proud to have fought against the Communists in SE Asia. I suspect your aim was to piss off the rube conservatives on here, and you have accomplished your goal. I am truly pissed and wish we could continue this discussion without tying up the resources of FR. IMO you are a turd looking for a punchbowl.

Last I saw they flew a POW flag on that pole.
It has been a while since I have been there.
It will probably be a rainbow flag next.

The confederate flag in no way, shape, or form is equivalent to the communist flag of China. I have many ancestors who proudly served and fought under the Rebel flag and to equate that with communism is an outrage.
