"What the heck is going on with cops today?""Nothing. Just more video cameras."
Correct.
Reported sightings of Bigfoot, flying saucers, and the Loch Ness Monster have dropped off to absolutely nothing since HD motion cameras became standard on mobile phones.
On the other hand, video evidence of police and criminals acting like animals has increased exponentially.

Thugs, every one of them.

WOW. The guy has to be drunk, the way he falls of the horse.
He immediately complies with every order, and they still have at him.
Side note. I’ve been on several ride-alongs with LA County Sheriffs. Their general attitude was really crappy. I always attributed it to the fact they all had to work county jail right out of the academy, but maybe their A-holes even without doing that county hitch.

No citizen should be subject to abuse.
Are you suggesting otherwise?

"But did notice that the horse stuck around and watched seemed to be waiting for the suspect to ride him back the barn."
Most tame horses will stop and wait a little, if a rider falls off.
"I saw another video of the guy riding. He didnt look to be very good at it."
The police chasing, police and media helicopters might have have caused the horse to be somewhat nervous.

"Do they still hang horse thieves in Texas?"
They'll still hang any one of some people for lynching...some.

"His most serious offense came for a Nov. 25, 2013 incident in which he was convicted of misdemeanor animal cruelty and resisting an executive officer."
How horrible! He should be handed to the Spectacle for the entertainment of upstanding political regulator folks. It's only right that they are in control of the police and above the law. What would our society do without their drugs, prostitution, officious robberies and murders?

And at the time the perp was down and cuffed, they continued even though there was a news helicopter circling above.
Are the LEOs so dense, as to not recognize the problems they will soon face?
When 5-6 officers are present, isn’t one the most “senior” obligated to scream “enough,” order it stopped, when he sees the perp is under control?

"They used to hang horse thieves."
And those who lynched.

A little secret here. There’s little no such supervision outside the office, depending on which PD. It’s more of a group of individuals, each deciding what he’ll do.

Being tased on a spooked horse can have that effect.

What surprised me was the behavior of the horse-whenever I fall off of my horse, he runs home.

Has anybody else noticed how many sheriff's deputies were chasing this one guy? If I were the Sheriff, I would be asking just how so many deputies got to be involved in this chase.
Just maybe a total of 4 or 6 cops at most plus the copter pilot should have been on this chase. Instead, it looks like every deputy on duty in the surrounding 50 miles got to go after this guy. In the meantime, no one else who may have needed a cop could find one.

These are not California Deputies. They are San Bernadino Deputies.
Good grief...

The radio reported that the animal cruelty charge was shooting puppy in front of his kids.
The man he stole the horse from was naked along with other witnesses with him.
The horse bucked him off when the police helicopter flew about 10 feet over head.
The horseback chase lasted about three hours.

After reading about this "Bozo's" record, I'm not having much luck summoning up any sympathy for him. Besides, you know what they did to horse thieves about 150 years ago........Just saying.
Right, after a trial. The sheriff didn't just string a guy up.

Right, after a trial. The sheriff didn't just string a guy up. Sometimes they didn't and sometimes they did.
The real old west was not exactly a nice place a lot of times.
Not saying it was right, for damn sure, but that was the reality of it back then.
