I am writing this on-behalf of my husband and long time Freeper My Favorite Headache, he suffered a skull fracture, severe concussion, and a host of other body injuries on the night of March 6th after slipping on a patch of ice after a snowstorm hit earlier in the morning. He was walking to his car leaving a friends house from the garage to the driveway, literally 8 steps and he just went down.
The injury was sustained to the back of his head and to his back and neck and had lost all feeling in his right leg which thankfully has been getting feeling back in it over the last week.
His neurologist just did a new MRI and we get the results on the 16th. He wanted to go deeper into his brain because he sustained a bad injury when he was a kid to his frontal left lobe when he fell from a 2 story house so they are trying to see if things are worse there. He also suffered 3 other concussions through football and being hit by a drunk driver in the 90s.
I am posting here because I know he always checks this page daily and has had friends from here for years, I just don't know them personally to contact them.
Please keep him in your prayers as he tries to fight blinding headaches, memory issues, and speech issues along with the physical pain as he only leaves the house for doctors appointments and has pretty much been left to bed since leaving the hospital.
Our family is really taking it on the chin but we keep faith in Christ that things will turn out for the best. He's had a rough year losing a lot of relatives and friends through illness and insurance has already denied on special medications that cost a fortune out of pocket. Amazing that his own doctors prescribe these drugs for dementia and alzheimers patients to help with brain injuries and as they write it out they tell you that insurance likely isn't going to cover it and those days are over.
So why write the script????

Thank you so much for posting this I have been doing a lot of research on natural remedies too.
The neurolgisit prescribed Vayacog and the insurance denied it immediately.
But I will be looking into your list immediately. Thank you all for your prayers and thoughts and advice. So appreciated.

Look at Powdercity.com or Bulksupplements.com for many of the items I mentioned. Others can be found at Vitacost.com. I purchased two very sensitive scales from Amazon which are accurate to 10 mg for dosing.
Oh, Phosphatidylserine is available from each of the websites I mentioned.
I have taken that, as well, but it can be expensive and is supposed to provide a similar benefit as the Citicoline and Alpha-GPC, but these directly cross the blood-brain barrier without any metabolic conversion steps (and seem to work better). I don’t know if any conversion steps are needed in the body for Phosphatidylserine.
The cheapest way to get it is from soy lecithin, but lecithin is also a decent proportion of egg yolks (and, yes, we have soy lecithin).
If I may offer a couple of humble suggestions you may have already tried: ask your Doc for samples- sometimes the salespeople leave them as starter packs for the docs to give the patients; also ask about prior authorization, with the new health care, a med you may have been on for awhile has to be checked out-denied at first, but then your doc can request the prior authorization and the insurance will pay at least on part.
