Shocking surveillance footage shows a mob using a hammer, a rocking chair leg and Mace as they beat a homeless man into a coma during a suspected act of revenge. The video taken in the forecourt of the Sunoco gas station on North 5th Street in Philadelphia shows five people, including two children, storming out of a minivan and attacking the helpless 51-year-old. One of the group takes out Mace as the man is brought to the ground. They then stamp on his head and continue punching him as he lies motionless.

Obama’s America.
well i live right off north 5th street but at 1000 block not 5300. don’t go up there much.
Mob: a large crowd of people, especially one that is disorderly and intent on causing trouble or violence.
Do you consider five people a “large crowd?”
My comment was not to imply that the people attacking him shouldn’t be punished. Simply that the writer of the article is an idiot. Any group that travels around in a mini-van is not a mob.
???
Look, the whole point behind us talking about mobs is that in a true mob action it’s difficult to determine which individuals are responsible for what happens. In a very real sense individuals aren’t responsible, except for their decision to join the mob.
A mob develops its own mentality in which it will do things not one of the participants would have done individually or in a smaller group.
That is simply not the case here. This is a small group deciding to criminally assault another human, not a mob of dozens or hundreds of people.
So you’re south of Girard, and the perps are between Lindley and Olney.
Ban homelessness.
5300 N 5th? Uh-uh.
Assuming the Philly stations didn’t downplay it and/or report on it at a time of minimal viewership, it is only seen within that region. Which means, of course, nobody else knows about it.
Other than to show our society at its worst, I cannot imagine anyone out of the area would be interested in it.
“I cannot imagine anyone out of the area would be interested in it.”
Why not?

That does not address what we discussed. Nice try though.
