Since his announcement,Cruz has been pretty consistently been polling in the double digits.PublicPolicyPolling found his national support exploding from 5 percent to 16 percent.
What if that happens to Rubio and Paul too?At some point,it has to start eating into Walker’s base...

Just as important,for the moment Walker is beating Bush.You don’t have to engage in total wishful thinking to think he might be a credible general election candidate.
Conservatives have been hungry for that.Not since Ronald Reagan has one of their own become president. Most years,conservatives have to decide between their principles and throwing away the presidency on a Michele Bachmann type who can’t win.
You know in your heart who’s right,but you know in your gut who can win.
That’s going to be a hard thing to beat.It’s an all-or-nothing proposition,however.If at some point Walker no longer looks like he can beat Bush or that he is not as strong of a Hillary opponent as Rubio or Paul,he is in trouble.
Conservatives might be in trouble too.The only way Jeb Bush can win the nomination is if conservatives fracture.What’s made this season different is that so far they haven’t. But the primary season is still young.

Walker is the topic of the thread, but I was more interested in how they sound about their chances in 2016 - the typical Alinsky wording.
Expessing an observation of a candidates persona as it relates to expectations of a President IS proper vetting.
Comparisons are made all the time to illustrate impressions that candidates give. My statement was not even intended as ridicule, but was the clearest illustration that comes to mind when I listen to and observe Scott Walker. The issue of “presence” is a valid one. If no one else sees this, I’m fine with that, but I won’t except a scolding for expressing my opinion. This was a mild comment compared to many on this site. Thread after thread have lambasted candadates, some of it ridiculing them, many of them hilariously so. Mitt Romney was the nominee, for Pete sakes, way past the vetting process, and he was grilled daily! If any Republican candidate can’t stand the scrutinty here, they are in the wrong race.

Obama only got elected Illinois Senator when he threatened his opponent, Jack Ryan, & Ryan withdrew from the race. Obama got Ryan’s SEALED divorce papers and threatened to reveal the contents.
From the first jump into political life, Obama was a cheat & a fraud.

Well I suppose everyone could direct their comments to you for editing and approval before posting, Or NOT.
Perhaps folks could simply learn to think.
That would require overcoming years of Government School programming and Big Media indoctrination ...
No ... it's much easier to just slap names and labels on candidates, ridicule them, and dismiss them.
In order to avoid the scenario you have posited in which Jeb Bush benefits from conservative division, we, as conservatives, must arrive at an early consensus candidate and deliver the bad news, with respect, to the rest. The crucial moment to accomplish this is BEFORE the delegate contests begin.
We also need to insist that each and every conservative candidate accept this arrangement and also agree to campaign like never before to elect the chosen conservative nominee.
While I presently favor Walker, I am certainly open to others including Rubio, Cruz, and even Paul (with substantial reservations needing to be cleared in his case). I may be forgetting others but I think those are the main contenders.
We cannot insist on perfection but we can guide any of them closer to perfection as a limit. There will be a flood of money behind Jeb Bush but money is only good to facilitate the gathering of votes. Romney had plenty of that money last time but he never got the votes of me and many here. If we stick together as a determined band of principled conservatives, choose one candidate and vote for that candidate in the delegate contests, then no amount of money can stop our chosen candidate from being nominated and, if we have chosen well, from being elected POTUS.
Hillary is a shopworn, weary old thing afflicted with a sense of unjustified entitlement. She is very close to being as old as I am. and that is NOT good news for her enthusiasts. Only in leftist world is the Medusa entitled to anything and then mostly in her own mind. The Demonrats are going to do us a major favor by nominating her. Elizabeth Fauxcahontas Warren would be a far fresher face and formidable opponent. Unlike Hillary, Fauxcahontas has genuine political talent and a capacity for credible populism, despite her ethnic fantasy. The radicals pushing Warren to run are a lot smarter than the usual gang of suspects around the Medusa.
I would add Rubio. His speech yesterday and the one that he made the night he was elected to the Senate provide a compelling autobiography and a vision of the future we should seek to offer to the nation. He makes no bones about Hillary being worn out and devoid of ideas. He offers what those who were once called Reagan Democrats long for. Whether he is nominated for anything or not, UI want him on the campaign trail full time campaigning to the constituencies he has chosen. Likewise Rand Paul who is not likely to ever be my choice but who also reaches out to new constituencies where most Republicans fear to tread.
In any event, let us choose one candidate before the delegate selection begins and see to it that all the conservative candidates understand and accept the strategy of uniting behind one conservative. Then we move as one like Patton against the Reich.
Take your own advice, Mountain! These are PRIMARIES. None of the people in the primaries are running against Democrats, not a single one. NONE of the people in the primaries has an opponent who ISN'T a Republican.
It is a competition between REPUBLICANS. So think, Mountain -- that these Republicans and their supporters who are OPPONENTS in this primary should actually criticize an opponent smacks to you of "government school programming and big media indoctrination" ...

He is not POTUS material but we should be telling his anti-dependency story to inner city kids so that they can share in the American Dream in ways that will give Demonrats fits.

I think that Rubio is more likely to take voters from Jeb than anybody else. He strikes me as being much like Jeb, only younger.
Yes, I believe Carson is a dear man. It has done our party good with the Af-Am vote, imho, to see a renown black physician associated with an iconic institution talking to blacks about right and wrong in politics, life, government and behaviors is probably, for the Af-Am, THE most important wake up call they are hearing, of all the messaging out there.
I hope Carson is heard broad and deep across the regions, especially the NE. Blacks have to be crying for decent leadership, by now. All they have seen for decades are carnival barkers and flim flam men on the make for money.
God bless Dr. Carson. He is no threat to our conservative politicos for months, as the first vote for anyone doesn’t happen until February, 2016, and his message may help us with a black vote, here and there.
He also promised ‘change’. The kicker in his ‘change’ was vastly different than many if not practically all people could realize or understand. His change was from a republic democratic form of Constitutional government to the insidious Sharia government. It appears that many people did not notice or did not care about such a ‘change’.
This isn't even specifically about Marco Rubio, Scott Walker, or anyone else in particular. This is about how we conservatives generally deal with our own internal vetting process. Name-calling and pejorative labeling and imputing of motive have no place in reasoned debate or discussion. I think we should save that for the enemy.
If you consider Marco Rubio or Scott Walker to be the enemy, then you're part of the problem. If you wish to replace reasoned debate and discussion with derisive, dismissive labeling and namecalling, then you're part of the problem.

Unless you're willing to reject some particular Republican John Doe as a candidate in the general election, beware of sliming him in the primary.
1) You might be stuck with him.
2) Alienating his supporters is a bad idea if your guy comes out on top.
