Bad news for Jeb: Walker surging in New Hampshire
Hot Air ^ | April 14, 2015 | Noah Rothman

Two weeks ago, I noticed that national polling and noted that the media-fueled boomlet for Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker might be fading. If that’s true, it’s a phenomenon that is not apparent in a recent poll of GOP primary voters in New Hampshire.

The results of a new NH1 survey conducted by the Republican firm Reach Communications from April 8 – 9 suggests that Walker’s appeal to the Republican electorate in this critical Northeaster state continues to grow. The survey found Walker leading with almost 23 percent of the vote, well outside the survey’s 3.0 percent margin of error. Former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush tails Walker with just over 16 percent support followed closely by Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) who secures the support of 15 percent of the New Hampshire GOP primary electorate.

For all the hype surrounding the campaigns of Sens. Marco Rubio (R-FL) and Ted Cruz (R-TX), they have not captured the imaginations of the Granite State’s voters. This poll found that just 9 percent of New Hampshire’s likely GOP voters back Cruz. Only 7 percent told Reach pollsters that they were planned to back Rubio in 2016.

Before Team Walker starts celebrating, the caveats associated with this poll abound.

“Since the poll was conducted using automated technology – and there are only so many buttons on a touch-tone phone – the ballot test included only those 11 candidates,” Politico reported. “In the last NH1 poll conducted in early February, Walker led Bush by 7 points.”

If this survey and others that show Walker gaining or surpassing Bush in support among New Hampshire’s likely GOP primary voters are accurate, it will present the former Florida governor with a daunting challenge. Unlikely to emerge from Iowa with a win, Bush will need to secure a victory in the Granite State in order to prevent his supporters jumping ship.

The candidate who wins in New Hampshire will head into the Nevada caucuses and the South Carolina primary in the pole position. If Bush is counting on Florida to rescue his presidential campaign at that point, he is likely to find that he will be as successful in that endeavor as was Rudy Giuliani.

Of course, this assumes that Walker and Bush both run for the presidency, and neither is a declared candidate as of yet. Wink.

Yes.

Bashing is what the Left wants us to do to each other.

They’re concerned because we haven’t fractured further.

They want us to help Hillary slither into the White House with all her baggage and all her hate and let her rain all her vengeance down on us.

Whenever anyone bashes any of these three:
1. Cruz
2. Walker
3. Rubio

I’m going to say “Hillary Clinton, Jeb Bush and Karl Rove all thank you for your diligent support of the Democrat Party Establishment.”

And I’m going to say it in bold size-8 font.

Every time.

Despite your protestations, you sound like a Masshole to me.

You will never find anyone on this earth worthy of your single-issue vote, (Whatever the hell it might be at this minute!), so you may as well vote for yourself...but back home in Mass.

Congratulations! In my sixteen years on Free Republic, your two insults are easily the WORST I have ever received on this forum.

But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and ALL LIARS, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.

As a Christian, one thing I am NOT is a liar, because the fate of a liar as described as above terrifies me. When I state that I am NOT from the state of Massachusetts, that is undeniable truth, regardless of what you think. Pity that you think that if I criticize Red Hampshire, I MUST be a 'M*sshole'. I refer to Red Hampshire as such for its political ideology AND the fact that so many here don't see a problem with spilling the blood of unborn children.

You may be familiar with the phrase 'life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness'. Without life, you can't have liberty or pursue happiness. I will NOT vote for a Red England Republican because 99 times out of 100; they are pro-death. Most also support sodomite marriage and again, will NOT earn my vote. Single issue? Please.

M*sshole? Strike one. Liar? Strike two. Try again.

By the way...Garcia met my criteria, but Red Hampshire chose Barabbas Kuster. That's not MY fault. Cruz also meets my criteria at present. That's TWO people on Earth 'worthy of my vote'. I'm sure I'll find more back down south.

I pray that we do not become like the Liberal, Left-Wing radicals who attack anyone who presents the case that their candidate is a less than desirable candidate.
How did I attack you? I said "baloney" to your statement that Walker was mushy. I implored you to tout your own candidate without attacking a candidate that I believe has stood incredibly tall against the combined forces of socialism and liberalism. How is that attacking you? That is merely defending a fellow conservative who has been laying it on the line where it really matters in the trenches. I like Cruz, but there is an incredibly vast difference between being a conservative senator in a deliberative body and being a conservative executive in a blue state. Must we light a candle for you to see the sun?

First of all: I not only addressed my comment to you, but to “All”. Read some of the mean-spirited comments by the Walker supporters on this thread. Secondly:.........

Go back and read your Post #31: You accused me of throwing Scott Walker “under the bus” because I simply stated some facts. That’s the way the Alinsky, liberal radicals operate. Rather than address the issues, just accuse (attack) those they oppose. You made NO EFFORT to disprove my concerns that were listed in the article link that I posted; you just came at me with your claws out. Your accusation against me was an attack; and, an unjust one at that. Because you see flaws in a candidate that could result in a General Election loss and bring them up, does not mean I am throwing him “under the bus”. Read the first few lines of Post #54 to you. I think Walker is a good man, he just needs to determine what his convictions are, stand for them and quit flip-flopping.

No, you don’t need to light a candle for me to see the sun. You just need to be and adult and address the issues rather than shooting the messenger.

Read this Din Maker.

This guy, and his supporters, are on the front lines taking bullets. It's fine if you don't want to vote for him, or want to campaign for your candidate, or point out policy differences between the two. He may be a whole lot of things, but I don't think the terms "wishy-washy", "mushy-middle", or "flip-flopping" are accurate nor do they tell the real story.
