Ramadi could fall as ISIS militants lay siege, Iraqi official warns
CNN)— ^

Falih Essawi shouted on the phone as he described his situation. From his point of view, ISIS militants might be just hours away from taking the key Iraqi city of Ramadi.

Fierce fighting has engulfed Ramadi, which lies only about 70 miles (113 kilometers) west of Baghdad and is the capital of Anbar province, Iraq's Sunni heartland.

Essawi, the deputy head of the Anbar Provincial Council, told CNN from inside the city Wednesday that it's unclear how much longer government troops can hold their front lines against the ISIS offensive.

The politician said he was on a front line himself, armed with a machine gun. Security was "collapsing rapidly in the city," and he begged the Iraqi government for reinforcements and the U.S.-led coalition against ISIS for air support. He stressed that urgent support from the military and security forces is needed to save the city.

"This is what we warned Baghdad of what's going to happen," Essawi told CNN by phone, referring to the Iraqi government at the capital. "Where is Baghdad? Where is al-Abadi?"

Well, that’s what happens when you turn tail and run. Why these people would trust us about anything is beyond me.

They need “air support”? I thought they did not like Uncle Sam sticking his ugly nose into Islamic countries. Let the ISIS take care of these ingrates. May Iran and ISIS take care of the Middle East.

The Arabo-Islamists vs Perso-Islamists. May both both show how truest Muslims fight. Make Muhammad proud and Allah happy.

Who really cares? Should we be backing Shia militias, as if they’re any better than ISIS?

As far as I’m concerned, if Muzzies are slaughtering each other, stay the heck out of the way.

It’s that “fierce fighting” part that fascinates me. These are the same buttheads that couldn’t get around to help us put a civil govt in place in Iraq. And the same yayhooz who fought to defend Sad Sack Saddam. We spent a lot of horsepower to give these asshatz a chance to join the rest of the world.

If ISIS wants to finish cleaning up Irag I guess we can take care of them later when they get cute outside the ME. I’m still not seeing the downside to muzzies killing moozies. Sheeites killing shinolas?

We were there for a decade. How long should we stay? Why we would trust them about anything is beyond me.

Ok here’s the plan. We hire say 1,000 Colombian hookers and parashoot then into the action. We know that highly trained specialist such as the Secret Service or DEA field agents were only able to put up limited stiff resistance against Colombian hookers before surrendering to sleep. And that’s when we counter attack!

That's just what the teevee told you....and you willingly bought it. The average ordinary Iraq on the street in Ar Ramadi just wanted to be safe and recognized the role of the U.S. in that; many were grateful they weren't under Saddam's thumb anymore and had the option/ability to vote.

The average IP and IA soldier knew they couldn't hold the ground on their own. Same with the shayikhs and local (provincial and city) leadership.

But what do I know? I only spent two tours in the Ar Ramadi patrolling and living with these guys.

It’s been a meat grinder there since the Iran Iraq war. Thirty years of bombing and beheadings.

And our president wants to bring it here.

Must be a mistake because I heard only today that the lesser Shiite Muslim heathens were making great headway against the greater Sunni Muslim heathens.

There *is* downside. Peaceful people get killed, but the most bloodthirsty survive by being better killers. The average balance within the society shifts toward warriors. You get fewer muslims, but each one of those that are left can easily kill ten of you before breakfast. War breeds killers, and I can't imagine why would the world need more of them.
