Was it ever determined if naval maneuvers were operating in the area? Were there no witnesses out there on the ocean? No interviews? Did any ship involved in that have surface to air capabilities? Did they look at the inventories to see if any missiles were missing?
They must have asked these questions.

I never understood WHY they covered it up. Seeing how the country went hysterical after 9/11, it may have been justified.
Actually, there was much discussion about the event here on FR. An ex-user named Michael Rivero presented opinions that were much-criticized. Take a look here for some of those threads.
Clinton was facing re-election in 4 months. He didn't want to appear weak or be shown to have had a massive intelligence failure. If nothing else, the Dole campaign or maybe Perot would have hammered him about it enough to cost him the election.
It was just easier to invent some zoom climb bullshit and blame it on a mechanical failure instead of Clinton getting painted as weak on security.

The radar evidence is irrefutable.
There are ‘targets’ diverting from the aircraft vector at Mach speeds...only possible from high-order detonation, be it missile warhead or otherwise, not a GD low-order fuel-vapor explosion.
Combined with the witness statements, the question comes to mind,

Discussing/debating possible theories/answers to clearly fabricated reports are not ‘conspiracy-theory’, but the very foundation of this country, in particular seeking the actual truth of the matter DESPITE the coverup...
But we’ll never know if this was covered up to keep a ‘terrorist attack’ off Billy’s rap sheet...’cause Billy’s got a shot to get back into the WH as 2nd-fiddle.
But the very idea that dozens, if not hundreds, of government employees between multiple departments, covered up the actual cause of that ‘disaster’ concerns me greatly. That and the fact that not a single one of them has come forward to corroborate the charges of others (they must value their federal pensions more than the Constitution; for that they should be all imprisoned, imho).
One thing I didn’t mention is that, unsurprisingly, the Clinton administration were keen to squash any talk of domestic-based terrorism after the first WTC truck bomb.

As a Myth Buster watcher, I am amazed at the perfect conditions needed to explode gas inside a close area. There has to be the right Oxygen levels, circulation and even obstructions (better mix the Oxygen and Gas). I am sure jet fuel different than propane or natural gas, but did the NTSB ever replicate the conditions need to explode the tanks?

Actually there are several systems for subs to launch surface to air missiles. And it is certainly possible that one was being tested.... however terrorism is more likely.
Wouldn't the possibility that a surface-to-air missile system was being tested inshore, adjacent to the flight path out of JFK, be essentially...zero?

...ahhh, really? justified to make up a story and lie about innocent civilian deaths ? There was no hysteria after 9/11.... maybe they miss you over at DU? No conservative would justify dishonesty to win an election just cause the BentOne didn’t want to have another scandal over security to explain, and was too much of a coward to retaliate if it was a foreign power and not a naval exercise accident...

Did some research, and there was a 1/3 replica tank made and exploded. Never test actual 747 wire to test the high voltage jump theory. So as MB says- Plausible.

Unless you want to add in Mena, Benghazi, the BC (and the “story” of 0vomit in general), and probably a few others I don’t recall at the moment. Interesting that all of these are tied to democrats and many to the Clintons.

I don’t always agree with Rush, but this was one of his most flagrant mistakes IMO.
