Homeland Insecurity Is Buying Up AR-15 Ammo
Moonbattery ^ | 4/16/15 | Dave Blount

Liberals haven’t been able to ban all-purpose sporting rifles (or “assault rifles” as authoritarians call them), so they went after AR-15 ammo. But they encountered enough resistance that they had to back down for now. In the meantime, they are trying another tack: buying up the ammo with our money:

U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) intends to solicit offers to Request for Proposal (RFP) HSBP1015R0025 for .223 Remington (.223 Rem) Caliber Training Ammunition for Department of Homeland Security (DHS) locations nationwide, including those in the continental U.S., Alaska, Hawaii, Guam, the Northern Marianna Islands, Puerto Rico, and U.S. Virgin Islands. …

Estimated quantity is approximately 12,600,000 (12.6 million) rounds of .223 Rem training ammunition per year, totaling 62,500,000 (62.5 million) over the life of the contract.

If the government buys up enough, .223 will be as hard to find as .22LR has been for the past few years.

They’d be dead by morning. They said there used to be people of all ages, women and children crossing their 12 miles of border.

Now, while not nearly the numbers, its almost all just young males, armed to the teeth.

Maybe it’s actually going to Syria or Ukraine?

I would have gotten the name of the individuals, and blabbed it far and wide. I hope they did too.

Do we have any proof of FedGov buying up 22 ammo? I have heard it as a rumor, but never actually seen any verification. As far as I know the 22 shortage is from private purchase.

FedGov buying that much AR ammo will certainly see shortages and price increases again.

They didn’t seem like the type of people to do that.

They know the BP officers work for Jeh Johnson and Jeh told the couple, face to face, that he works for Obama and does what Obama tells him to do.

"A couple of TX ranchers were interviewed on WIBC radio today. One of them reported some AR armed illegals crossing his property. Border Patrol came out and told the couple they had no intention of doing anything about it."

And yet it's us that they worry about having guns. If it weren't so sad it would be funny.

What sucks, is that the guns they were carrying were probably sold to the cartel by Eric Holder.. And WE paid for them.

If he is not doing what his job description calls for, it probably doesn’t really matter. A suit would probably bring him down.

He is allowing foreign nationals to conduct military operations on U. S. soil. I’d like to see him defend that in court.

That much ammunition can be used with in one year for weapons proficiency within the DHS.

DHS has over 50,000 officers with over 36,000 in the border patrol (2008 census of federal law enforcement officers in USG) and there are more officers on duty today.

So, 12,600,000/50,000 is 252 rounds for use per year for each office, if each officer was required to qualify every year.

weapons training is with carry weapons and the M-16 is common in police vehicles today. There is also the rotation and replacement of duty ammunition and in some cases use replacement.

I think people are seriously over reacting and are eating ground meat and drinking cool-aid.

.223 is made for the civilian market.
Check your AR’s barrel. Mine is roll-marked 5.56.
I believe the .223 has a slightly shorter case neck, maybe a little lower pressure but someone who knows can edify, clarify.
I’m more into 7.62.

5.56 is a hotter load. More pressure, which is why it is not recommended to fire 5.56 ammo in a .223 Cal. Rifle.

.223 ammo is fine to fire in 5.56 Rifle.

So if you find a zombie attacked, half eaten jack booted thug and all that is laying around is .223 ammo police the unspent rounds. :)
