Genetically modifying human embryos implies that these fellow humans exist for our benefit, for us to do with as we wish. This is totalitarian at its baldest. (It's also the mentality of most progressives, and criminals.)

That's the problem. There will be some good applications that will lead to it being accepted by the general population.
Then there will be the bad applications that will scare the dickens out of the general population, but only after it's too late to put the genie back in the bottle.

She is a very close first cousin. We have a walkathon on May 3rd. She has made it to 37, there is hope in genetic testing. She had a kid even though she was told not to and survived because of all of our prayers. Transfusions every two weeks.IT is a rare disease affecting Mediterranean people and we are Italian.

I have no doubt. Is the condition prevalent in other cousins/siblings?

A bunch of people have the trait but both have to have it for it to be beta, the worst kind. She has that. But she has done miraculously. But she has been in and out of the hospital. I think she’s missing the spleen (is that possible) appendix, gall bladder, get fevers, weak, bones getting brittle. And there’s the pump seven hours a night forever to clean out iron. My aunt told my other she is ALWAYS scared. She went to the hospital two weeks ago because she thought she was having a heart attack but everything came back good. she’s 90 pounds of toughness!!!
thanks for asking. I will forward this over to my aunt. I know she would wan t to see it. Amazing that you brought it to attention.

If they micro-size future Chinese citizens, their country could accommodate 5 times the number of people rather than impose the ‘1 child rule’ on couples. They’d have an endless supply of foot soldiers and they’d fit well inside submarines, troop carriers, etc..
