Earth always has had a certain quantity of crude oil leaks and has also had ways of dealing with the consequences besides just rolling over and dying.
Liberals still complain about the damage done by the Embridge pipeline break here in Michigan in 2010.
In reality they got a lucky break with a very warm winter which promoted the growth of natural oil eating microbes. Also the dams along the Kalamazoo river that the liberals want torn out prevented the oil from rushing downstream to lake Michigan in a day or two.
There are still spots were a little oil may be found in the soil but in a few more years those will be gone too. Lots of natural seeps in southern Michigan anyway.
