Ted Cruz knocks Scott Walker on immigration
Washington Examiner ^ | 4/24/2015 | Drucker

Posted on 04/24/2015 4:12:26 PM PDT by VinL

Sen. Ted Cruz on Friday took a shot at rival presidential contender Scott Walker for comments the Wisconsin governor has made regarding immigration policy.

Cruz opposes comprehensive immigration reform that includes a path to citizenship for the estimated 11-12 million illegal immigrants living in the United States. But the Texan is a big proponent of legal immigration and making adjustments to U.S. law that would facilitate more legal immigration. He criticized Walker for suggesting that he supported limiting legal immigration if it has a negative impact on the wages of American workers.

"There is considerable bipartisan agreement outside of Washington that we need to improve and streamline legal immigration so that we can remain a nation that welcomes and celebrates legal immigrants," Cruz said in an interview with the Washington Examiner during a brief campaign swing through Las Vegas.after cost estimates came in higher than anticipated.

I think it is a mistake for any politician to on the one hand embrace amnesty, embrace a pathway to citizenship for those who are here illegally, and on the other hand seek to restrict or punish legal immigrants," Cruz continued. "I am the son of an immigrant who came legally from Cuba. [President Ronald] Reagan referred to legal immigrants as Americans by choice and there is no stronger advocate of legal immigration in the U.S. Senate than I am."

"I think the right approach is to secure the border, follow the rule of law and embrace and improve legal immigration," Cruz said.

Walker has conceded a change of heart on immigration policy as he gears up to launch a 2016 presidential bid. The governor, 47, previously supported a pathway to legal status for illegal immigrants. Now he is opposed. Supporting a pathway to legalization or citizenship could be problematic for a Republican candidate seeking his party's White House nomination.

But in a recent interview with conservative talk show host Glenn Beck, Walker appeared to move farther to the right on immigration than even amnesty hawks like Cruz. Here's what Walker said, as reported by Breitbart. (read more)

“I favor a halt to all immigration for 25 years. There really is no reason to import foreigners until more Americans are working.”

Absolutely, we have illegal border jumpers here, people who have overstayed their visas, anchor babies, jihadi breeders, and who knows what else. Homeland “Security” has no idea who is here, nor do they care. They only want to be able to spy on the citizens of the country.

Rush has said numerous times recently that we should shut down immigration as was done prior to the disastrous 1965 Kennedy immigration bill. He’s right. We should stop all immigration, illegal and legal, until we can determine who’s here, who shouldn’t be here, and deport the ones who should not be here.

“A 10-year moratorium on all immigration is the only thing needed”

Start an initiative in California for that.
It would get conservatives and independents to the polls.

If it passed then Ted Cruz would support your state right to do so.

I don’t think there is presidential candidate running on that issue but, idealism is fun. ;)

“We need to put a stop on all immigration, legal or not. A moratorium of at least thirty years to assimilate the ones already here makes sense.”

Yes, exactly right.

“We now see the true colors of Cruz. We don’t need more LEGAL IMMIGRATION. We take in 1.1 million LEGAL PERMANENT IMMIGRANTS ANNUALLY—more than the rest of the world combined. Since 1990 30 MILLION LEGAL PERMANENT IMMIGRANTS HAVE ENTERED THIS COUNTRY. We have a surplus of labor. We have the lowest labor participation rates in 38 years. American jobs are being taken by immigrants and they are depressing wages.”

BUMP.

The real danger are those who immigrate here from countries and ideologies that hate us and have no motive to assimilate into our society but to destroy it whether it’s through legal or illegal immigration.

But the over all danger above all of this talk about immigration is the Marxist, Communist ideology that is taught in our schools, and their hate all things America and Christian.

The same thing goes for the media.

Over taxation and oppressive regulations , high fuel prices, and not being able to compete with the rest of the world of costs of doing business in America is what has drove them overseas, is what drove the manufacturing base overseas.

Some, not all, but most immigrants work harder here than some Americans because we have developed a lazy culture.

“The number of legal immigrants allowed into the United States per year is over ONE MILLION. Should not Cruz’s views on immigration be guided by what is best for perpetuating the American identity, rather than some sentimental memory of his Cuban heritage? Walker is right; all immigration should be guided by the nation’s ability to assimilate - the way it has been handled historically.”

Agreed. I want a chief executive who’s primary concern is for the citizens of the country, not for the tens of millions trying to get into the country, by hook or by crook.

“Too bad, I had hoped that Cruz was not just another politician trying to turn my homeland into a third world cesspool. Guess I was wrong. Not only does the Texas/Tejas Senator not want to slow the third-world influx, he wants to increase it.”

I am extremely disappointed in Cruz, to say the least.

Are you kidding?

I’m behind enemy lines in CA. CA has been turned into separate immigration camps of every description, many of which were welcomed in legally. It destroyed the state. No one is going to start any initiative here. Out numbered out voted. This is what happens.

And it’s coming your way soon. Bet the rent.

BTW, I can assure you, I’m not voting for anyone calling for more immigration. That’s pure insanity.

“Most of the third-world immigration that turned California into a one-party state was “Legal”. Almost all of the Islamic Immigration into our homelad goes through legal visa channels. “Illegal=Bad. Legal=Good” is baby talk from those ignorant of the facts, or willfully trying to obscure the facts.”

Well said.

Lol, so you are one of those guys, Americans are losers, and immigrants are better.

Immigration is what has driven this nation into the ground, what do you think American politics would be like if the democrats never had the voters to support them moving farther and farther left? When you lose an election or see an Obama elected, do you ever look at the voting data to see how the democrats did that?

“When will you agree to end mass immigration, at 500 million, 800 million, 1.2 billion, why not now, at 330 million, 130 million more than what we had when we went to the moon, and a quarter century after winning WWII?”

That is indeed the question every proponent of mass legal immigration must be made to answer.

Actually when you add the Dems,/libs and the GOP/lib supporters, YES Ansel, a big chunk of Americans (in name only) are complete losers and legal immigrants are FAR better. Because most of them actually come here for a good purpose instead of being human garbage like a lot of our native born population.

Not sure you have ever been inside of a factory but I have seen it with my own eyes.

I didn’t say all American workers are lazy, but we have developed a culture to laziness..

Most understand, anyone at this point in our history who wants or demands more immigration is either a fraud or ignorant. I’d bet most calling for more immigration likely have a monetary conflict of interest here, or political in nature. Profits regardless of consequences.

It’s all but left America dead on the floor.

Those who’ve yet to be affected by it, will be.

I do have empathy for you in California.
Up here in Blue Washington I have experienced the destruction of the wages and job quality in the trades.
In fact I am unemployed right now.

I urge that you understand what Cruz means by strengthening and improving immigration.
From his site:

http://www.cruz.senate.gov/?p=press_release&id=137

I think it’s important information.

We are in the candidate shopping phase
then, the establishment picks Jeb or Paul.
Cruz and Walker can GO form another NEW party and win.

This is my personnel idealistic wish I will share.

Walker's position on immigration changes.

I think he's full of it.

I’ve not only “been inside of a factory”, I’ve worked in them, and in machine shops, and plants, and construction and restaurants, and service repair work, and the military, and in fast food, and in just about everything.

You seem to be saying that white Americans are inferior to the people that are dragging us down and making us a mediocre country, even an incompetent one, that more and more resembles the grubby, corrupt, and shoddy, and less advanced home nations of your immigrants.

As immigrants continue to replace us at the rate of about a million a year, if you think that the American labor pool is going to increase in quality, then you are nuts.
