Gov. Walker tried to get to the right of Senator Cruz by seeking to curb legal immigration. I thought Walker would eventually have to pull a "Pence" on that position. Here, Sen.Cruz challenges Walker-- we'll see how it plays out.

This is a great thread, and I hope it's one of those epic FR threads that goes beyond 1,000 comments.

We NEED to have this discussion. Both Cruz and Walker are good men, solid conservatives. But immigration - legal or illegal - is an absolute deal-breaker to the base.

Gov Walker has hired Mccain and Romney people as his advisors so his sudden shift on immigration is not trustworthy with advisors like that!!

But the Texan is a big proponent of legal immigration and making adjustments to U.S. law that would facilitate more legal immigration.

But the U.S. does not need any more of this endless legal immigration at this point in our history.

In fact what America desperately needs is a 10 year moratorium on all legal immigration across the board. This is long over due.

Not a good move on Cruz’s part. How many tens of millions does he intend to import? If we import 100,000,000 Chinese, we could get wages down to $1.25/hour, right? That would make the Chamber of Corruption happy. But I don’t want to see the country given away nor do I want to see a permanent Dim majority.

Cruz is terribly wrong on this issue.

I don’t know if Walker is sincere about reducing the number of legal immigrants and, if so, will stick with his guns on this. I certainly hope he does, however. This is an issue that can move me from Cruz to Walker. Immigration, both illegal and legal, is the most important issue facing our country.

I’ve lost trust in Walker. He supported amnesty in 2013. Now he chains he’s against it. He used to be against ethanol subsidies to farmers. But at last month’s Iowa Ag Summit Walker flip-flopped and said he supported them. Hard to know when to believe what this guy says. Ted Cruz is the clear choice in 2016. He’s the only true conservative running.

I support Cruz, but Walker has (IMHO) a better immigration policy. We need a moratorium on immigration so the nation can assimilate all it's new "citizens".

The funny thing was I just heard Steve Camarota on Wilcow claim Walker was a bit better on immigration than Cruz
