Fredinburg was also on Everest in April 2014, when an avalanche killed 16 Sherpa guides. After that disaster, Sherpas refused to aid any further expeditions on the mountain, forcing the cancellation of the year’s climbs. In an Instagram post, Fredinburg blamed the cancellation on “militant” Sherpas and used the hashtag #poorformguys.

Looks like the Sherpas had the realistic view on the dangers of Everest. More so than the Google genius.
