You haven’t read up on the history of the Baltimore police.
I have a bias towards the protesters. It’s only a natural response of seeing police atrocity after atrocity.
These cops are doing exactly what they are formally and informally trained to do.
1. Reduce the #of cops carrying firearms. Every cop doesn’t need to have a firearm.
2. Stop with the ‘suspended with pay’. Make it all suspended without pay or just flat out fire them whenever something particularly suspicious happens.

I’m not going to. If you feel the need go ahead. Didn’t mean to offend you, get hotheaded sometimes and may speak out of anger.
I have never seen such incompetence on the part of the mayor and the cops.
The mayor should have called in the national guard. The guard should have formed a shoulder to shoulder line, ten deep if necessary, in a half circle behind the rioters, cutting off any escape route. Trapped between the guard and the cops, every single one of them should have been arrested and charged with attempted murder, felonious assault, etc., for throwing dangerous objects at the cops.
They should have been jailed and bonded at $25,000 or so so that their parents would have to cough up considerable cash to get them out.
That would wake up some very stupid parents.
Instead we have the mayor calling for the cops to give them space, and the cops acting like kids by throwing rocks back at the kids.

Yeah, I’m just looking for all those “violent at the drop of a dime” whites. That said, from what I’ve seen and read thus far, it appears that the Baltimore cops brought this whole thing down on the city by their actions. The State, not the Federal Government should take over the investigation here, and it shouldn’t take more than a week or two to figure out what happened and start taking actions against the guilty if it is shown that there are guilty parties. The usual “problem” is that the a$$ covering “process” takes years and the end result is that justice is not served.

Guess you must be an immigrant from some Communist $hit hole. I am no fan of the way cops often behave, but here in this country we have a Constitution that presumes innocence until guilt is established in a court.
We do need better trained cops who also understand their obligation to adhere to that same constitution. They should have firearms, but they ought to know when to use them. As for cutting off their income, that also should come when they are found guilty. Sheesh!
You admit to being a supporter of rioting criminals. You should be in jail with your criminal friends, not telling other posters to remove their comments. You’d better stay out of my neighborhood. We’re not as tolerant of criminals as Baltimore cops.

72 years old and you still haven’t grown past the strawman argument phase?
1. Police and other government type enforcement units get limited immunity to an almost complete immunity from prosecution during the line of duty.
2. Not only that,, they are given considerable deference from judges, DA’s and politicians.
3. Innocent until proven guilty isn’t working here. There needs to be a deeper scrutiny ... above and beyond so called internal investigations.
4. Non judicial punishment is an acceptable measure to use to combat police abuse.
- Take their guns away. Make them walk beats with night sticks and radios.
- Fire them for the most egregious mistakes.
- No more paid vacations for screwing up. Suspended without pay during investigations. Let their Union pay them, not the public.

I haven't watched it, but a friend of mine said she was watching the tv news feed from the helicopter around 6 pm tonight and she saw a woman reach into the melee, haul one of the thugs out and smack his face several times. There must be at least one good mama left in Baltimore.
