Monday night's game between the Baltimore Orioles and Chicago White Sox at Oriole Park has been postponed because of safety concerns, the Orioles announced.

The decision was made after hundreds of youths outside a mall in northwest Baltimore clashed violently with police in riot gear, throwing rocks, bricks and bottles at the officers.

Heck, the White Sox should feel right at home.

Good move. The riot will get better t.v. ratings.

I work at (not for) a company that has officised in Baltimore.

A few hours ago a company wide email went out ordering the Baltimore office workers home to telecommute until further notice.

Ugly damn city anyway — if they burn it down it can only be made better.

They should be warning white people and Orientals to stay indoors.

Not good.

I thought it was called Camden Yards.

I’m just glad they c an no longer bury this; that Saturday night mess was quickly suppressed in the news (including penning the people in the stadium).

Camden Yards is a beautiful park in what could be a really nice city.

The riots should be put down by any means necessary short of a massacre.

OTOH, with the O’s tied for last place, the only thing that matters in the AL East tonight will be happening in the Bronx, with the Rays doing what needs to be done to send the Yankees where they belong (tied for second with the Red Sox)...

Ha ha. That's fantastic. Having attended a few Sox games in Chicago, I concur completely. It was mayhem getting back to the L.

Amazing that this is the same city where Francis Scott Key wrote The Star-Spangled Banner.

Well, I’ve seen plenty of rain-outs, but this is the first riot-out I’ve seen.

Perhaps Baltimore should have to forfeit the game if they cannot provide a safe venue.

Sure, but nobody will do what it takes to make it nice.

This nonsense will stop when non-blacks stop showing up the next morning to clean everything up, tow out the burned hulks of ars, etc.; when it looks like Mogadishu long enough, blacks will take an active role in fixing things.

As I understand it, Baltimore was being gentrified in one area (the waterfront?); I think that will be about the extent of it. Anyone thinking of investing in the city has to factor in all those outstretched palms...

“Youths”

50 years ago, calling a black man a “boy” was deeply offensive, but now they’re all “youths.”

Should have converted it to “Bat Day”. Arm the entire crowd with baseball bats. They could storm out of the stadium, bats at the ready, with a “just TRY to stop me” attitude. Thinking the rioters would head for easier pickings.
