DID YOU SEE THE 2nd DEGREE ASSAULT charge?

Second degree assault under Maryland law (and the laws of many states) is often a BS charge that includes any unwanted "touching" of another person, as well as acts that place another person in fear of being touched against their will. This is the kind of crime that cops often charge when they can't find anything else to charge because the subjective nature of the elements. Indeed, the crime includes acts like cocking your fist in defense of a threat, but not actually throwing a punch and waiving your finger in front of a person's face to emphasize a point. It is the least offensive of so-called violent offenses, and it is punishable as a misdemeanor, not a capital offense.

It has everything t0?do with it. If he were at a job working instead of being a druggie, it would not have happened. This is why we are taught early not to play in the street! The more you play in the street, the more likely you are to get hurt.

“The more i learn about this thug and his rap sheet, the more i believe the cops didn’t do this to “punish” a criminal for fun. it has made this scenario far less likely and reality is the punk went after one or more cops in the van and they all took him down and the thug’s recently operated on back didn’t like it.”

So, you’re just making up defenses now? Because the officers’ own report on the incident says that he was arrested “without force or incident,” and makes no mention of any altercation.

I am very interested in Mr. Gray’s immediate medical history.

One source reported that he had a major settlement with an insurance company for a back injury. Additionally, he had recently under gone back/neck surgery and was supposed to be at home on bed rest.

Does any of this exonerate the police? No. But, they do tejl the rest of the story that the LMSM in their rush to tell a story ignore.

“His spinal cord was probably severed at the neck before he was dragged to the van.”

If he was running from a bicycle cop, there was probably a great difference in relative velocities when the cop took him down. He might have hit the ground hard and with a cop on his back that would be more than enough force to damage his spine.

Does anybody know if he was on parole or probation at the time?

"He might have hit the ground hard and with a cop on his back that would be more than enough force to damage his spine."

Yes. I also noticed that low wall right next to him and the police, before they lifted him up and yelled at him to walk. That wall would be bad for a neck to fall on. Only speculation, of course, but the injury could have been at least partly accidental.

and the thug’s recently operated on back didn’t like it.

The story that he had recent back surgery has been debunked here on FR.

Here is a FR thread where that is being discussed.

Was it the job of the police to punish him before he was taken in?

Other than the original video of the arrest where one of the cops had his knee on Gray's neck, there is no evidence the police 'punished' him in any way.

They did have to stop and put him in leg cuffs because he wouldn't stay in the SEAT. The other person who was in the back of the van says that the ride was smooth, he wasn't jostled around, and he did not see the cops do anything to Gray other than put him in leg cuffs.

There’s no way to defend the police behavior in this incident.

You mean the 'behavior' that the protesters, rioters and media MADE UP but have no proof of ?

His spinal cord was probably severed at the neck before he was dragged to the van.

If that were true, how is it that a man with a severed spinal cord is standing up in the back of a police van, and has to be put in leg cuffs ?

I watched both videos and in the second one, he can be seen standing up ERECT as he enters the van. How could he do that with a ‘severed spine’ ?

One source reported that he had a major settlement with an insurance company for a back injury. Additionally, he had recently under gone back/neck surgery and was supposed to be at home on bed rest.

That source was a website called THE FOURTH ESTATE and the info was posted here on FR and quickly DEBUNKED.
