The problem is, even if the guy was a total wack job, that they arrested him and limited his freedom (not enough, apparently); at that point his well-being became THEIR RESPONSIBILITY.

I have no problem with cops applying equal or greater force to manage situations, but things get problematic when cops dispense revenge.
