Former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush declared Wednesday that 11 million immigrants in the country illegally should have an opportunity to stay, wading yet again into his party's contentious immigrant debate.
In tone and substance, Bush stands out among the many Republicans lining up for the GOP's next presidential primary, where conservatives who oppose an immigration overhaul often hold outsized influence. As he moves toward a presidential campaign, the brother and son of former presidents has not backed away from his defense of immigrants in the country illegally and a policy that would allow them to attain legal status under certain conditions.
"We're a nation of immigrants," Bush said at the National Christian Hispanic Leadership Conference that brought several hundred Hispanic evangelical leaders to Houston this week. "This is not the time to abandon something that makes us special and unique."

The invasion is over. Mexico has defeated the USA
They had their chance to stay. Most decided that they wanted Mexico brought with them. Now they have the chance to leave.
He is off-the-charts offensive in his equating of illegal immigrants to people who came here by first getting in line.
What about the other 30 million?
11 million illegal immigrants deserve to stay???
BULL-SQUEEZE!
Jeb Bush might as well say that 11 million robbers deserve the chance to keep the property they stole.
Clueless loser
First of all they are ILLEGAL ALIENS.
Second. We had an immigration overhaul in 1986. Amnesty was granted, but the promised enforcement was never done. The result was several million more ILLEGAL ALIENS and demand for more “overhaul.”
Never trust a politician on this issue or Fox News.
Yes, and of course their 50 million relatives back home deserve a chance to come join them.
Not so fast. Maybe the Islamonazis will fight the Mexicans for control of the republic, formerly known as the United States of America.
Will they be paying back taxes?
A question from the back of the re-education camp?
Do you draw a distinction between legal immigrants and illegal immigrants?
Thank you for your consideration. I'll see myself to the de-lousing tent.
National Christian Hispanic Leadership Conference
Even the title of the conference is offensive.
Wonder if the Jebster would exhibit the same forebearance if 11 million legitimate US citizens refused to pay their income taxes.
Illegals came here at the wrong time, relocated themselves into places they should not be, they are harming their neighbors (not only with criminal acts, but also with taking resources and with taking jobs), and they are demanding that their new hosts serve them. We are told that more illegals help the economy, and yet with record illegal immigration in the last 6 years, we have also had the slowest economic recovery in history in the last 6 years, so clearly, even that supposed benefit is an empty promise.
So please, Mr Jeb, detail what they have done to DESERVE America ignoring its rules, ignoring its laws, and forcing those who follow the rules to wait even longer (my ex-fiancee's sister had to wait 9 years... she now works as an aircraft mechanic, and is an exceptional worker). It surely isn't our safety, our economy, or to enhance our system of jurisprudence... so again, please, detail where it is DESERVED, Mr Jeb.
The USA side, fresh off a big loss in The War On Poverty, is soundly defeated in The War Against Illegal Immigration when their star striker, Barack Obama, repeatedly and intentionally scores Own-Goals.
Yo Jebbie! What about those 11milllion AMERICANS who won’t be able to find a job? What about those AMERICAN kids who will have to suffer in overcrowded classrooms? Your freeloading Xeno illegal alien invaders don’t “deserve” sh*t and AMERICANS don’t owe them jack sh*t!
They crossed an international border without legal permission.
They are lucky we aren’t a sane nation and had them shot when they tried.
The minute they disrespected our laws is the moment they decided they didn’t want respect and dont deserve s*it.
