Former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush declared Wednesday that 11 million immigrants in the country illegally should have an opportunity to stay, wading yet again into his party's contentious immigrant debate.
In tone and substance, Bush stands out among the many Republicans lining up for the GOP's next presidential primary, where conservatives who oppose an immigration overhaul often hold outsized influence. As he moves toward a presidential campaign, the brother and son of former presidents has not backed away from his defense of immigrants in the country illegally and a policy that would allow them to attain legal status under certain conditions.
"We're a nation of immigrants," Bush said at the National Christian Hispanic Leadership Conference that brought several hundred Hispanic evangelical leaders to Houston this week. "This is not the time to abandon something that makes us special and unique."

Bush III, the honorary Hispanic. Yep, dynasties are bad. Bush III is embarrassing.
The Bushs were the family that the term "hispandering" was invented for.
Jeb’s doing all he can to not get the Republican nomination. Maybe he should switch to Democrat?
Illegal aliens are illegal, it’s against the law, the highest law of the land. Jeb is for lawlessness. PERIOD!!
Rapists, thieves, murderers, arsonists, etc are all illegal, need a trial, and punished. But as an act of love, don’t you all think we should just give them a chance to stay out of prison? We must think of diversity here. We need to adjust, just buy better locks for our homes, do a better job of protecting our women from rapists. Build fireproof buildings, we should do whatever it takes to accommodate criminals and make them feel at home.
Above all, it’s our fault criminals are criminals because we, those that respect the law, own guns.
Deport the Bush family.

What about the other 29 million illegals who never seem to get mentioned in these political numbers?
Pols and newsies use numbers that are ‘convenient’, not necessarily accurate.
The next logical move, which we all know is coming, is arguing for the right to vote for these tens of millions of immigrants.
After all, they are here. They have family. They are (ostensibly) paying taxes, so shouldn’t they be allowed to vote?
You KNOW it’s coming. Stop it now.
Is this that short bus candidate running off at the mouth again? Why doesn’t he just move to freaking Mexico.
“The invasion is over. Mexico has defeated the USA.”
And what I find rather amazing is how easily it was done.
Jeb has a conflict of interest on the immigration issue.
He went to Mexico in 1970 as a 17 year old foreign exchange student where he met and fell in love with Colunmba, a 16 year old Mexican girl who later became his wife.
When it comes to immigration he is biased and just cannot think clearly as an American. His personal life and experiences cloud his judgement.
America was betrayed to the enemy by the very people who were elected to protect her.
They will still vote Dem, Jeb!!!!! Sheesh.
If Jeb wants to be President, it sure seems like he would have a better chance running as a Democrat. Makes one think he doesn’t want to be President.
“Second. We had an immigration overhaul in 1986. Amnesty was granted, but the promised enforcement was never done. The result was several million more ILLEGAL ALIENS and demand for more overhaul.
The 1986 amnesty occurred under Reagan. When George H.W. Bush followed Reagan, the policy of lax enforcement began and was continued by Clinton. George W. Bush refused to build the border fence voted by Congress and wanted another amnesty. Now Obama is deliberately resettling third world peasants around the USA to dilute the voting influence of anti-immigration citizens. No member of the Bush family can be trusted on immigration.
Maybe a direct swap for Jeb himself. What a sorry SOB. Pandering for votes is all he is doing.
Terri Schiavo deserved a chance to live.
