My concern is that potential overcharging in this case might lead to charges being tossed or dropped, which could lead to more outrage being sparked.

If it can be proven that the cops engaged in criminal activity here, they should definitely have to face the music.

I am not for cops dispensing this type of, ah, I guess vigilantism. Juries and judges do that.

So I am not going to be one who says oh look at his record he was on he way to this. That is not relevant to me. I am also not one who is going to say the police are jack booted thugs, all they want to do is control, kill power, power. I don’t believe that is the case either. I’m not going to pay any attention to that side either.

A meticulous study of the evidence is relevant to me. It is in that study of evidence that I believe proper justice is found.

If she wants me to believe that the police are guilty of what she charged them with, she is going to have to prove it to me.

If she can prove it to me, I will agree with her.

If she fails to do that, I will side with the police.

But I do not want her, or the defense for that matter, to attempt to inflame me with emotions or politics.

Just the facts, as someone famous used to say.

Is this the same jail that houses the Black Guerrilla Family members who corrupted some of the female security guards?

Maryland “Freak State” DANG!

lucianne has a story up that one cop involved has already said it was an illegal arrest, so you know some of the principals in this case are going to get charges negotiated, but someone or more will pay the price. It will be a rat fest between them, because they are probably guilty as sin, especially when they fail to out bad practices. Just sayin’.

Playing the long game requires intelligence.

The Baltimore politicians are playing the short game:

Here it seems that they're trying to please the mob, and hoped the legal case pans out. Who knows, they could get some plea deals, the could get some convictions. They might also get a messy trial that will upset the mob even more.

They will get a messy trial. The Fraternal Order Of Police will see to that.

They’re stupid if they’ve covered illegal or dangerous behavior by another fellow officer or officers, especially in light of the fact that those officers committing the offenses put you, and every other officer’s safety in jeopardy.

Yes, it looks like the knife charge was not justified.

This is all pretty stunning about the cops. You know they have it tough enough every day, all day long. And, sad.

The neighborhood says the cops in there neighborhood have no restraints on their behavior, no one to answer to, no consequences. Stuff would just go away for bad cop behavior, and yet the stories of their abuses around there are legend. People were already at a breaking point, I heard, before this happened actually.

In fact, one councilman warned the mayor last year that something was going to blow if she didn’t get a handle on it. I can’t remember what he wanted her to do, maybe meet with the neighborhoods, I can’t say, but the mayor declined.

Thx, 55th.

Sounds like there’s plenty of blame to go around in the PD, and the city government. If police supervisors weren’t supervising their officers, they’re just as culpable as the cops for what happens. And the blame goes right up the chain-of-command. A whole lot of people were collecting salaries without having to do their jobs properly.

The thing is, the police commissioner has been on the job only three months, and the state attorney, Mariyn Mosley, was just elected and is in only her fourth month.

A conversion of who’s on first trying to play ball in a hurricane.

The police seem better armed this evening, but they didn’t know the report was coming out today after all. Now the folks seem all happy this afternoon. Pray it is a good night for the police. Absolutely no more of that open assault on them can be tolerated.

They should leave the scene, or fight back, but never be seen just standing there forced to tolerate that assault like the other night, with glass bottles, bricks and tools. NEVER. Americans should not have to see them endure such a thing, ever. Bad for everyone’s morale. Broke my heart for them.
