Last week, Family Research Council President Tony Perkins was invited to be on "Face the Nation." What was supposed to be a cordial conversation about the Supreme Court and same-sex marriage turned out to be a professional ambush.

Host Bob Schieffer pounced on the Family Research Council, calling them an anti-gay hate group. He was using discredited intelligence from the Southern Poverty Law Center. It was an ugly interview.

The day JimRob casts you out (for speaking the truth in love) is the day I leave this place.

No he won’t.

But also His salvational purpose does not change until He has brought in the fulness of the gentiles (and the Jews).

A winning spiritual attitude is to care for what God cares for, and believe it or not it isn’t just “Whack ‘em all to hell.”

Well I will try to be as gracious as I can. Grace is one thing I have typically found hard. If left up to the bitterness in my guts, I’d punch everyone out and walk away and let them deal with it themselves. But as I go, I realize bit by bit that grace is the only thing that allows me to win the battle. If I would get grace, I must give grace too. It’s like swimming. Don’t expect to stay dry.

I have immense faith that this is possible. Grace will need to be shown here. No, if the government embraces horrible foolishness, this does not knock God off His heavenly throne nor does it rob Christians of any Holy Spirit power. In fact, it may be part of the stage setting for “great exploits” (spiritually speaking) by believers. If everything were nice we might be lulled into not caring (and in fact, it is arguable that this is what has happened to America — Christians are victims of their own success).

Beautifully stated. Positively inspiring. Thank you.

“And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient;” Romans 1:28

Cruz seems to be strategically placed for the gain of the Lord in this dark situation.

An element is present here that was not present in the last two presidential contest seasons. Cruz opened up his campaign by talking about the gospel, a quintessentially right thing to do. Even non believing Jews respect him.

We have a great battle on our hands here. We also got great opportunity. God lives forever. Don’t let your hope in Him die.

16 These six things doth the Lord hate: yea, seven are an abomination unto him:

17 A proud look, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood,

18 An heart that deviseth wicked imaginations, feet that be swift in running to mischief,

19 A false witness that speaketh lies, and he that soweth discord among brethren.

To: who knows what evil?

Well it seems TOO convenient in this situation.

Modern translation: Not suitable. Tres mal ensemble.

Yeah I know you are who knows what evil? But that question is not complete without also asking who knows what good (is to be had from the Holy Spirit).

To: who knows what evil?

And the usual Old Testament answer to such a situation was “Knock um to hell.”

The New Testament in Christ’s blood opens up other explicit options.

Einstein defined insanity as doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results. By that definition, Conservatives who go on talk shows are certifiably insane. NEWS FLASH: THERE IS NO GOOD THAT CAN COME OF IT.

Three things can happen: 1)you will be blindsided and viciously attacked; 2)you will be mocked and made to look like an imbecile or 3)you will become like them. You will NOT get them to agree with your beliefs. So next time they call, just tell them to F off.

Oh sure good can come of it. But they can’t go on there like Rodney King, saying “Can’t we all get along.” We can’t, until Satan is cast out. They need to make points of virtue, in the name and power of the Lord.

Faith may get us to heaven, but it won’t stop the hellish future we will be forced to endure here on earth. Just IMHO.

What I am getting at is that we have a range of choice available, more than we can currently imagine, of HOW to address the “hellish future.”

Flash: life on earth has always been hellish. It has been tipped heavily towards sloth in the America we once knew — we suppressed so much superficial evil, we forgot what it is to fight it down deep. God is forcing us out of that posture now. We might have called it nice. God calls it sin.

Our group punishment on this world is going to be very severe. What comes after is a religious discussion.

In other words, faith isn’t just good for getting us to heaven — faith can also get heaven to come right here with us. Perfecting the place? No. Doing obviously great things for the Lord? Yes.

I know what I’m talking about. God has slowly but steadily taken the hell out of my life and replaced it with heaven, nowhere close to perfect yet, but I see it now.

Spiritually, it doesn’t matter one bit if nonbelievers live virtuous lives. My point? Explaining the “virtues of virtuous singlehood and dedicated monogamous heterosexual matrimony” may help people live healthier and happier lives in general, but it misses the more important issue—salvation. Not only that, but nonbelievers are unlikely to be swayed by arguments about virtue that isn’t God-based.

Without God, people act as their own gods, and they’ll do what they think is in their best interests. We can see where that’s leading today. Nonbelievers are weighing the perceived risks and taking their chances, and if God isn’t a part of the equation, we can see that people are choosing sin over virtue.

“Punishment” is a loaded word.

We all “deserve” hell, let alone “punishment.”

BUT, in opposition to this, God offers great grace to the humble.

What is wrong is to take the idea that we have to just sit there and endure it like good little passive penitents. We have an active role we are called to. It is not called making the world nice.

You’re jumping ahead, condemning concepts too quick by implication.

The virtues are not just in a vacuum. They form living illustrations of the love of God, both in a common grace and a saving grace context. That is how they need to be presented.
