Republican presidential hopeful Ted Cruz will attend events in South Carolina Friday and Saturday along with state GOP leaders and former presidential candidates Rick Perry and Rick Santorum.
All three men are expected to speak at the SC Republican Party's 48th Annual Silver Elephant Dinner in Columbia Friday night,
Governor Nikki Haley and U.S. Senators Lindsey Graham and Tim Scott are also expected to speak at the event.
The dinner, which is advertised as the largest and most prestigious Republican gathering in South Carolina will be held in honor of the late Gov. Jim Edwards, who served as the 110th governor of South Carolina in 1975-1979 and passed away in Dec. 2014.
Graham, who is currently testing the waters on a potential presidential run himself, will also host a breakfast for delegates at the convention. He will then return to New Hampshire for stops on Saturday and Sunday as he continues to explore his presidential possibilities.
The Silver Elephant Dinner and the GOP Convention will be held at the Columbia Metropolitan Convention Center.

I’m not normally a “stalking horse” kind of guy, but I still believe that the only reason that Graham is getting in the race is to knock out the conservative candidates.

Yup.
Both he and Huckabee are there to make sure the establishment candidate wins and the conservative does not.

Seems this cycle will be more about speeches than debates. Way too many events at each primary state where candidates or potential candidates speak. Two in Iowa, One in New Hampshire and now one in South Carolina plus CPAC.

What conservatives are going to be voting for him? I would think he would draw votes from Bush.
To: GeronL
I couldn’t agree more. I respect them, but they are also-rans at this point. We need fresh faces and they aren’t it.
To: Republican Wildcat
You may be (hopefully will be) correct, but I think that home state loyalties could play an unpleasant role.

Not sure what you mean. There are nine ‘national’ debates already scheduled, and probably others, especially should the contest stretch out past early March.
Of course, none of these are actually ‘debates’ anyway. They’re more akin to testimony and cross-examination.

.
It won't happen in 2016 ...
the "political fools" on the Left are stupidly promoting the Fergeson/Baltimore race riots, not understand that with each new city under racial-riot assault, another million "independents" silent decide to vote CONSERVATIVE in 2016 ...
... and NO ONE will be fooled to "waste their votes" as we were in 2012 with Huckabee, Santorum, Perry, etc.

Still early yet for debates but when they happen we will quickly see the Wheat separated from the Chaff.
