Ted Cruz ‘reached out to the Pentagon’ about martial law conspiracy theory
MSNBC ^ | May 2, 2015 | Emma Margolin

Depending on whom you ask, “Jade Helm 15” is either a domestic military training exercise or a covert operation for the federal government to take over the state of Texas – and 2016 presidential candidate Ted Cruz just became the latest Republican to fan the flames of the latter theory.

Speaking at the South Carolina Republican Party’s annual convention Saturday, the Texas senator told Bloomberg’s David Weigel that his office had contacted the Pentagon about the exercise, which officially consists of a series of training drills throughout the Southwest for about 1,200 special operations personnel, including Green Berets and Navy SEALs. Conspiracy theorists operating on the fringes of the conservative blogosphere, however, have other ideas about what the exercise, known as Jade Helm 15, is intended to do – such as implement martial law, seize Americans’ guns, and imprison political dissidents.

Rather than squash those theories outright, Cruz apparently decided it was better to be safe than sorry.

“My office has reached out to the Pentagon to inquire about this exercise,” he said. “We are assured it is a military training exercise. I have no reason to doubt those assurances, but I understand the reason for concern and uncertainty, because when the federal government has not demonstrated itself to be trustworthy in this administration, the natural consequence is that many citizens don’t trust what it is saying.”(continued)

I wonder what would happen if I looked at a map of where the places with the most armed citizens are located , and compared it with the map of where these exercises are taking place? What would I find? Just a hunch-hope I'm wrong.

This isn't good in any scenario.

Yeah, there was a Sherrif who shot a soldier because he thought he was under attack, and the soldiers in the vehicle thought he was part of the exercise.
And the officers in charge insisted that “proper authorities” had been notified etc.

Thanks, humor takes the edge off some of the serious issues confronting us in the coming days. I really appreciate Ted Cruz and stand behind him in his efforts to win the nomination and return leadership, integrity, and dignity to the office of the POTUS.

I believe Ted is the real deal. He has shown leadership and resolve while deflecting the lies and criticisms of the GOPe and democratic leftists.

God Bless Texas and Ted Cruz.

Do you think they would follow illegal orders? Do think they would knowingly attack civilians?

No.
But things can be manipulated so that illegal orders are seemingly legitimate. — Tom Clancy did this in a few of his books, and there's a very clear example of a patently illegal order/SOP which is considered legitimate: the restriction of fire arms on military bases: you see the 2nd Amendment, even in its most contrived readings, has to apply (a) to the militia/military, and (b) to the federal government.

The question really is how much do we trust them to follow the constraints of the Constitution. (And, further, how much weight does the military institution give the Constitution? Also, the lack of standing-style runaround that they gave anyone trying to verify that Obama was Constitutionally eligible to be the President pretty well proves that it is not the case that they-as-an-institution will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic;.)

We got your back. There are going to be those who don’t want him because of some perceived grievance.

I’m glad he asked about Jade Helm. I don’t trust this government anymore.
.
I am not sure about the free trade agreement Cruz supports and not financially smart enough to figure out if it is a good or bad bill for the country.

I will trust but verify that he wouldn’t vote for something that would hurt the country.

I emailed him about my concerns on this bill and he will address the concerns to the people as he always does.

He is very transparent and unafraid to answer our questions. A true leader.

And other than beating a puppy on national tv, TED CRUZ has my vote and donations and unswerving support, as does FR.

And yes we need to pray for Ted

Why is simple of course. If anyone cares to look, many/most of the very same names now singing the praises of Walker, Rubio and even making excused for Jeb, the people who fought with tenacity for Rick Perry, hell for the entire RINO crew; attacked, and at minimum, devalued PEVERYTHING about Palin.

They then stood their piously telling us, after any remotely conservative person had been eliminated from that election and and the last election, (Bhoner/Mitch and those rinos) that we were purists that hatted our own country.
The very same people who refused to back Palin, now refuse to back Crus, yet lined up like good little liberals to trash conservatives and vote for Mitt, Mitch and Jonbon...or support their election if out of state.

Because they are liberals. Real ones. Their RINOS have since delivered unto the DNC, everything they wanted and stabbed conservatives in the back and the GOP is now a hard left party as their post election record shows.

Now here they are again with the same playbook and not one person will zot their liberal asses to oblivion.

Why?

Not sure if it’s nut-job conspiracy worthy, but it’s a thread I thought you might enjoy.

So, you're endorsing Darksheare for President?

And, Mr. Darksheare, what are your main policy goals for your tenure as President?

Texas is a state of mind, a freedom of spirit the founding fathers gave this country before the federal government and the Washington bureaucrats began to gradually take our freedoms away and control our lives.

You don’t have to be wealthy or come to Texas to enjoy that spirit. Texans want to keep what little is left it alive. But as long as ‘good’ men are to be found in all states, this country may again be united and blessed by GOD.

GOD Bless Texas

"And I think he’s a nut too."

Because -- as a Senator -- he asked for clarification on something about which his constituents had expressed concerns?

~~~~~~~~~~~~
"Has it dawned on anyone what the 15 means? It means they have done this fourteen times already."
Has it dawned on YOU that this year just happens to be 2015?
Have you considered that the truth might be better served if you changed your FRName to "Vermont Candy@$$3d Butterbar"?
Lol!
Well, I honestly haven’t thought of a serious platform for myself.
I have joked about having a minister of travel that sends random people on forced vacations that they can’t refuse.
Imagine media talking heads being sent one way to NorKland.
But it is usually just me venting frustration.
