Parents reading to kids blasted as 'unfair'
WND ^ | 5/05/15 | Joe Kovacs

Does reading to your children somehow give them an unfair advantage over less fortunate children?

A British philosopher is making that claim, and it’s causing ripple waves across the globe.

A story on the website of the Australian Broadcasting Corporation’s website asks: “Is having a loving family an unfair advantage?”

It raises the question: “Should parents snuggling up for one last story before lights out be even a little concerned about the advantage they might be conferring?”

I basically deal with your concerns in a thread on "The 'Gift' That Keeps On Taking."

Not sure if this link will work:

This doesn't surprise me in the least. in his book Class Warfare: Besieged Schools, Bewildered Parents, Betrayed Kids and the Attack on Excellence (San Francisco, Calif.: Encounter, 2002), J. Martin Rochester tells of public schools that try to discourage parents from giving their children supplemental reading instruction so they won't get ahead of their classmates.

Reading to your kids probably smacks too much of
Deuteronomy 11:19
Teach them to your children, talking about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up.

Therefore the left opposes it.

I’m not raising my children to be inferior or average.

Giving your kids every “unfair” advantage you can manage is a dictionary worthy definition of “good parent”. And I can’t think of a single mammalian species besides Homo Sapiens Americanus Negrus that doesn’t instinctively behave this way.

"This is an insight into the liberal “mind.” Everything is “equality” with them. They deny the reality that there are differences in ability and effort."

And yet, they are the ones who espouse Darwinian evolutionary theory over Religion. If they really believed their dogma wouldn't they stop, "helping" the down trodden? It shows that they're only interested in power through vote buying schemes.

A few of them (i.e. the faux "Liberals") may be all about power--but those are the demagogues and scoundrels. Most of them are compulsion driven neurotics, pursuing airborne wish lists. They get away with their idiocy, by shouting down anyone who tries to reason with them. (But see Compassion Or Compulsion.)

And don’t kiss them good night either because that’s not fair to kids whose parent or parents don’t kiss them good night. It’s best just to give every kid a sleeping pill and fuggedabotit.

It is time for a Department of Reading Prevention with its own SWAT team. The government can not tolerate this behavior.  Reading at bedtime is not really the issue.  Reading at bedtime is an indication of an overall mindset of concern for children.  Parents who read to their children do many other things that make their children productive members of society.
