Didn’t one semi-honest politician in the legislature step up and tell the people that the Michigan Constitution would not let them spend a penny from this tax increase on roads?
I thought I read that in the end all the extra money was going to be filtered to more State end of year tax payments to non-working people and the schools.
The proposal that I saw on the ballot said, use taxes eliminated in one spot, and use taxes to be increased in another. But having seen Sen. Levin’s ads in favor sold me on NOT voting for it and more to the point, sold me on making sure I got to the polling place.
Naturally my straight-ticket-Dumbocrat relatives condemned the plan as “Republican” and “regressive” and called for a “progressive” income tax.
