Why men won't marry you

That’s a question Peter Lloyd tackles in a series in London’s Daily Mail about Britain’s marriage rate, which is at its lowest level since 1895. “The state of matrimony is not just ailing. It is dying out faster than a mobile phone battery,” Lloyd writes. “For an army of women, Mr. Right is simply not there, no matter how hard they look for him.”

“Of course this only works for guys who desire a petite women with long black hair who is most likely to be modest and believes in traditional gender roles within marriage.”

Who wants that? Judging by the media, the type of woman that virtually every man desires is one that likens herself to Hillary Rodman Clinton.

After my divorce, when I had to relearn the rules of dating, I was truly shocked.

We live in a “sex on the third date society”.

2 is too few (slut) and 4 is too many (prude). I saw this over and over.

It is now standard convention to have sex on the third date.

And that’s presuming your not just having buddy sex with casual friends. Before, this wasn’t possible: somebody develops feelings for the other (the woman). Not anymore. Society has changed.

Why get married?

In fact, the only reason to get married is to protect your morality. In this society, that makes you a sucker.

That’s called ‘the results of modern feminism’. If a man actually does ask the woman to wait in a place of safety, calls at only reasonable and civil hours, or holds the door, he is ridiculed, insulted and in some cases sued for emotional distress or sexual harassment for assuming the woman would want this behavior.

I only wish I was kidding.

I’m also adult enough to be able to judge women to stay away from. I know a lot of guys who married women, even though there might as well been a flashing neon sign saying, “warning.” If you marry a maniac, don’t blame it on everyone else.

Why? Because the ones I have met have nothing to offer. They can’t cook, they can’t sew, they don’t want to have children, don’t go to church, they don’t want a job, they want nothing—except to be pampered, given a credit card, and expect a red carpet treatment, and lastly—they can’t even make love with their heart as they don’t have one. Not every woman has this characteristic, but hey, they are few and far between and most I have met do. Spend a ton of money; they love it but not even a thank you. This is the logical consequence of a worthless culture that emphasizes form above substance. Kardashians, Jenners, Obozos—go to hell, as you are worthless.

I'm 45, female, and have been married since I was 27. Sorry if some of you have had bad experiences or are afraid of losing “half of your stuff” (which if you were in a true loving marriage you would admit “half your stuff” is your spouses, maybe that was one marriage problem right there!)

There were years I made more $$ then my husband. So what?
There are times I make the “final decision”. So what?
He enjoys doing everything with the kids I do and when we decided I would stop working I picked up the slack at home. But we decided together.

Why did we get married? Because even though we could act as crazy as our peers deep down we were both traditional people at heart who believed that traditional family units acted as role models for the two children we later had and was the best way to have a nice home life with mutual respect for one another. We loved each other and wanted to share our lives as a married couple legally and in the eyes of our church. Am I the perfect little home maker? Nope! Am I just as strong willed at times as my husband can be? Yup. And because of it I don't think my girls will go out and let a man walk all over them. And they'll want a commitment, sealed in marriage before they commit their entire life to a man or have children. They will be less likely to become dependent on the system. They are already forming a more traditional, conservative world view as teenagers.

I'm not saying it's right to stay with some one if its not working. But I've seen to many people, especially in their twenties right now, that don't get married, have kids, get government assistance and then share custody so every other weekend the parent without the kids is out getting drunk and sleeping around with some one new. They see this as a type of freedom, always blame the other parent if anything goes wrong. I see a whole generation of p/t parents. Responsibility isn't in their vocabulary. I saw a very young father bring a child to the emergency room. She had cut her foot pretty badly and wanted her mother. He was very nice to her, but many times little kids want their mothers. He tried calling everyone trying to find her. When they finally did she came in so drunk I thought they'd have to admit her. She hugged the little girl but then told the doctor “well this is not my weekend to have to be a parent”. WTH? I can't say with 100% certainty I will never get divorced. But it would not have been the same if we had just lived together— we did for several months before our wedding. Before I got married it was like we were roommates with benefits. When we decided we were going to get married we had to sit down and figure out our shared priorities, hopes, dreams, finances etc Definitely more of a commitment because you can't just walk away without repercussions.

From a woman married 34 years:...

Back at you with a high-5 from a man who has been married to the same girl for 30 years.

Together we had and raised 4 good college-educated kids (includes 2 who are USMC), are both professionals, rose to Sr. management in our respective fields, before I went into business on my own and she joined me as my business partner and has been so for the last 19 years.

We both lived on our own before we married and established our careers independent of each other. We both cook, but she's a food scientist by trade so her creative skills in that area are far beyond mine. Me, creative? Not so much. I'm just a biochemist.

Jesus Christ has been at the head of our relationship from the beginning and after 30 years, I can truthfully say that I married the kind of girl every guy wished he was married to.

I believe that the Christian man who truly puts Christ first and makes the prayerful effort to find a wife of a similar world view and value system will be successful in God's own time.

Dude I don’t really understand your main point. But any married man, is married only as long as his wife wants him. And if she gets tired of him for any reason, he loses half his stuff and probably will pay child support and basically pay for her to enjoy the company of some other dude.

I think that is the core of the problem some of us guys have with the institution of marriage.

If you want to find a future wife candidate, own a cat. Women will come crashing to your door. Why? Not sure, but it happened to me. All I can say is that it was what attracted my future mate.

I’m celebrating my 20th anniversary this October.

RE:”But the response you guys are having is supporting the feminist agenda 100% Since you guys are supposed to be conservative, maybe you should think smarter and not use language the supports feminism and leftism and GIVES THEM WHAT THEY MOST WANT. “

You sound like a man hating liberal. Are you Howard Dean or Patricia Ireland?

MY attitude? How about THEIR attitude? I was good to every gf I ever had. They weren’t that terrible either, but seeing what happens after divorce court makes me wary. Maybe you ought to check your attitude, friend. I’ve done nothing to you.

Who remembers when divorced women bore a huge negative stigma? I do. (I am 51 BTW.) I am not saying it was right. But I have noticed the stigma seems to have disappeared.

I think divorced men also bore a stigma but not nearly as bad as women.
